內(nèi)容概要

本練習(xí)冊是按照《中等職業(yè)學(xué)校英語教學(xué)大綱》的要求，配合《中等職業(yè)教育國家規(guī)劃教材·英語》（基礎(chǔ)版，第三冊）的同步單元練習(xí)用書。課堂教學(xué)是學(xué)生增長知識(shí)、發(fā)展能力、培養(yǎng)創(chuàng)新精神的主渠道。本練習(xí)冊的目的在于幫助學(xué)生理解消化課堂上所學(xué)的內(nèi)容，鞏固學(xué)習(xí)成果，引導(dǎo)學(xué)生運(yùn)用所學(xué)知識(shí)解答問題，培養(yǎng)學(xué)生分析問題和解決問題的能力和運(yùn)用語言的能力，全面提高學(xué)生的素質(zhì)。    本練習(xí)冊以各個(gè)單元的話題、功能、結(jié)構(gòu)為主體，針對重點(diǎn)內(nèi)容、主要語言點(diǎn)、語法等進(jìn)行強(qiáng)化訓(xùn)練。每單元練習(xí)均按教材的體例編寫，并加強(qiáng)了聽力訓(xùn)練，聽力材料與教材同步，難易適中，題型包括單句理解、對話理解、短文理解三個(gè)部分。希望使用本書后能對提高學(xué)生的聽力理解和初步進(jìn)行英語會(huì)話的能力有所幫助，激發(fā)學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)英語的興趣。    本練習(xí)冊的內(nèi)容包括：聽力、詞匯和語法、日常交際用語。練習(xí)的形式有：單項(xiàng)選擇、完形填空、閱讀理解、交際功能、書面表達(dá)等幾部分。本練習(xí)冊除按單元各輔以一套練習(xí)外，最后還增加一份期末試卷，以供教師期終考試參考。本練習(xí)冊力求在全面系統(tǒng)檢查基礎(chǔ)知識(shí)的同時(shí)，重點(diǎn)檢測并提高學(xué)生運(yùn)用語言的能力，提升中等職業(yè)教育生源的整體外語素質(zhì)，以適應(yīng)21世紀(jì)對人才的多層次需求。    本練習(xí)冊參考答案附在“教師用書”（第三冊）之后。錄音部分在本教材（三）錄音帶第三盒。

Reading Comprehension　　Read the following passage and choose the best answer.　　Niagara Falls (waterfall) is located on the Niagara River in western New York and sooth eastern Ontario. It was formed about 12 000 years ago. Niagara Falls consists of the Horseshoe or Canadian Falls and the American Falls. The Ameriean Falls are separated by Goat Island, New York. A small section Of the American Falls near Goat Island is al so known as Bridalveil Falls.　　The Niagaras large volume of flow, averaging about 5 520 cubic metres per second, plus its steep drop, give the river great power potential. Horseshoe Falls carries a bout nine times more water than the U.S. Falls.　　In 1958, the Canadians built a power station at Queenston, Ontario. And the Americans built one in 1963, on the United States side. Niagara Falls is a great tourist attraction, at tracting millions of visitors each year. The falls may be viewed from parks loeated on either side of the river, from observation towers, from boats, from Goat Island. Visitors also may enter the Cave　of the Winds, located behind a curtain　of falling water near the base of the American Falls.
