愛的教育

前言

埃得蒙多·德·亞米契斯（Edmondo De Amicis，1846-1908），意大利著名作家、民族復(fù)興運(yùn)動(dòng)時(shí)期的愛國志士。亞米契斯1846年10月31日出生在意大利。中學(xué)畢業(yè)后，他進(jìn)入軍校學(xué)習(xí)，后來參加了統(tǒng)一意大利的愛國戰(zhàn)爭(zhēng)。亞米契斯在軍隊(duì)期間就開始寫一些具有愛國風(fēng)味的短篇故事。1868年，他發(fā)表了處女作《軍營生活》，該書使他一舉成名，并從此走上了文學(xué)創(chuàng)作的道路。他曾周游世界各國，撰寫了許多游記，其中著名的有《西班牙》、《倫敦游記》、《摩洛哥》和《巴黎游記》等。亞米契斯還創(chuàng)作了許多反映教育和愛的作品，如《一個(gè)教師的故事》、《學(xué)校與家庭之間》、《朋友們》和《在海洋上》等。1886年，亞米契斯發(fā)表了《愛的教育》，該書為他贏得了世界聲譽(yù)，使他的創(chuàng)作生涯達(dá)到頂峰。1908年3月12日，亞米契斯因心臟病逝世。  在亞米契斯的眾多作品中，《愛的教育》被認(rèn)為是他最重要的代表作，是其最廣為人知的作品，也是世界經(jīng)典兒童文學(xué)名著之一。該書被認(rèn)為是意大利人必讀的十本小說之一，同時(shí)被公認(rèn)為最富愛心和教育性的讀物，受到許多青少年和家長讀者的喜愛，對(duì)全世界億萬青少年的成長產(chǎn)生了深遠(yuǎn)影響。該書自出版以來，一直暢銷不衰，并且曾多次被改編為動(dòng)畫片、電影、連環(huán)畫，讀者遍布全世界?！稅鄣慕逃吩?0世紀(jì)20年代被譯介到中國，在我國獲得了久遠(yuǎn)的、廣泛的傳播，是一部家喻戶曉的外國文學(xué)名著，贏得了中國教育界和廣大讀者的喜愛。朱光潛、豐子愷、茅盾、夏衍等知名學(xué)者曾將此書推薦為青少年朋友的重點(diǎn)讀物?！稅鄣慕逃纺壳叭允鞘艿綇V大中國讀者歡迎的外國經(jīng)典名著之一。在國內(nèi)數(shù)量眾多的《愛的教育》書籍中，主要的出版形式有兩種：一種是中文翻譯版，另一種是英文版。其中的英文版越來越受到讀者的歡迎，這主要是得益于中國人熱衷于學(xué)習(xí)英文的大環(huán)境。從英文學(xué)習(xí)的角度來看，直接使用純英文素材更有利于英語學(xué)習(xí)。

內(nèi)容概要

《愛的教育》是意大利著名作家亞米契斯的代表作之一，是公認(rèn)的文學(xué)經(jīng)典名著。該書采用日記的形式，通過一個(gè)小男孩的視角，時(shí)間從10月份四年級(jí)開學(xué)的第一天開始，一直到第二年7月份，共講述了100個(gè)與孩子有關(guān)的故事；主要內(nèi)容由三部分構(gòu)成：主人公的日記，他的父母給他寫的勸誡、啟發(fā)性的文章，十則老師在課堂上宣讀的精彩“每月故事”。每個(gè)故事、每篇日記，都把“愛”表現(xiàn)得精髓深入、淋漓盡致，大至國家、社會(huì)、民族的大愛，小至父母、師長、朋友間的小愛，每一種愛都不是驚天動(dòng)地的，但卻感人肺腑。日記所反映的真實(shí)的愛、熱切的情感，無不讓人熱淚盈眶。    該書自出版以來，一直受到全世界讀者的喜愛，已被譯成世界上一百多種語言，并被改編為動(dòng)畫片、電影、連環(huán)畫。書中所展現(xiàn)的故事感染了一代又一代讀者的心靈。無論作為語言學(xué)習(xí)的課本，還是作為通俗的文學(xué)讀本，本書對(duì)當(dāng)代中國的讀者，特別是青少年都將產(chǎn)生積極的影響。為了使讀者能夠了解英文故事概況，進(jìn)而提高閱讀速度和閱讀水平，在每章的開始部分增加了中文導(dǎo)讀。

作者簡(jiǎn)介

亞米契斯(1846-1908)，意大利著名作家。他曾在陸軍學(xué)校學(xué)習(xí)，1886年參軍。在軍營中，他創(chuàng)作并發(fā)表了許多短篇小說，受到人們的歡迎。這深深地激發(fā)了他的創(chuàng)作興趣，因此他離開軍隊(duì)，成為一名職業(yè)作家?！稅鄣慕逃肥莵喢灼跛沟拇碜鳎且槐救沼涹w小說。

How many have died, and how many are dying continually！ Have you ever reflected how many fathers have worn out their lives in toil？ How many mothers have descended to the grave before their time, worn out by the privations to which they have condemned themselves for the sake of sustaining their children？ Do you know how many men have planted a knife in their hearts in despair at beholding their children in misery？ How many women have drowned themselves or have died of sorrow, or have gone mad, through having lost a child？ Think of all these dead on this day, Enrico. Think of how many schoolmistresses have died young, have pined away through the fatigues of the school, through love of the children, from whom they had not the heart to tear themselves away; think of the doctors who have perished of contagious diseases, having bravely sacrificed themselves to cure the children; think of all those who in shipwrecks, in fires, in famines, in moments of supreme danger, have yielded to infants the last morsel of bread, the last place of safety, the last rope of escape from the flames, to expire content with their sacrifice, since they preserved the life of a little innocent.
