前言

中國(guó)加入WTO,與世界的經(jīng)濟(jì)貿(mào)易聯(lián)系更加密切,使得中國(guó)與世界其他國(guó)家的合作具有了更加廣闊的前景。因此,培養(yǎng)既具有國(guó)際貿(mào)易專業(yè)知識(shí)又精通外語的復(fù)合型人才是目前高等教育的首要任務(wù)。正是在這樣的時(shí)代大背景下,我們于2005年著手編寫了《新編國(guó)際貿(mào)易實(shí)務(wù)》一書(中文版,清華大學(xué)出版社2006年8月第1版,2009年5月第2版),其目的就是幫助廣大經(jīng)貿(mào)類專業(yè)的學(xué)生掌握專業(yè)知識(shí)和具體的商務(wù)貿(mào)易規(guī)程。隨著全球經(jīng)濟(jì)一體化程度的加深,一方面我國(guó)將需要更多的外貿(mào)人才,另一方面對(duì)國(guó)際貿(mào)易專業(yè)的學(xué)生將提出更高標(biāo)準(zhǔn),要求其在熟悉掌握專業(yè)知識(shí)的基礎(chǔ)上,能夠使用英語進(jìn)行業(yè)務(wù)磋商,利用網(wǎng)絡(luò)營(yíng)銷開展全球貿(mào)易并且熟知國(guó)際貿(mào)易相關(guān)條款和慣例。可見,對(duì)于國(guó)際貿(mào)易專業(yè)的學(xué)生來說,提高自身的綜合業(yè)務(wù)素質(zhì)是目前最為迫切的任務(wù)。正是基于此目的,我們?cè)趯?duì)《新編國(guó)際貿(mào)易實(shí)務(wù)》中文版進(jìn)行修訂的同時(shí),編寫了這本與中文版《新編國(guó)際貿(mào)易實(shí)務(wù)》相對(duì)應(yīng)的英文版教材,旨在從根本上提高國(guó)際貿(mào)易實(shí)務(wù)的雙語教學(xué)水平。本書以進(jìn)出口貿(mào)易的主要業(yè)務(wù)環(huán)節(jié)為主線,系統(tǒng)地介紹了各個(gè)環(huán)節(jié)的操作規(guī)程和國(guó)際慣例,書中的英文材料大多選自國(guó)外原汁原味的英語專業(yè)資料,不僅句式地道,而且力求做到英語知識(shí)與專業(yè)知識(shí)相結(jié)合,克服了國(guó)內(nèi)教材重語言形式輕語言運(yùn)用能力的弊端。本書每一章節(jié)的編寫都注重材料翔實(shí)全面,語言難易適中,專業(yè)性強(qiáng)的特點(diǎn),同時(shí)結(jié)合國(guó)際貿(mào)易的變化和發(fā)展趨勢(shì),根據(jù)一些貿(mào)易規(guī)則的修訂作了適當(dāng)?shù)恼{(diào)整。本書的讀者對(duì)象主要為具有較好英語基礎(chǔ)的經(jīng)貿(mào)類專業(yè)和英語專業(yè)二、三年級(jí)的學(xué)生,以及有志從事國(guó)際貿(mào)易工作的其他人士。另外,為了方便廣大讀者的使用以及與中文版《新編國(guó)際貿(mào)易實(shí)務(wù)》相對(duì)應(yīng),我們將每章課后練習(xí)單獨(dú)成冊(cè),并隨本教材一起贈(zèng)送給讀者,可作為課外作業(yè)本使用。讀者可以在清華大學(xué)出版社網(wǎng)站(http://www.tup.com.cn)下載練習(xí)的答案。本書由張雪瑩、華欣擔(dān)任主編,具體分工為:張雪瑩負(fù)責(zé)全文的校對(duì)和課后練習(xí),并編寫緒論及第二、三、四章;華欣負(fù)責(zé)總體框架設(shè)計(jì)并編寫第一、六章;朱蕾編寫第五、七、九章;于麗艷編寫第十、十二、十三章;王胤編寫第十一章;孫虹編寫第八章。在編寫過程中,我們得到了天津科技大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)管理學(xué)院領(lǐng)導(dǎo)和老師們的大力支持與熱心幫助,在此一并表示感謝。

作者簡(jiǎn)介

張雪瑩,經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)碩士,天津科技大學(xué)經(jīng)濟(jì)與管理學(xué)院教師,研究方向?yàn)閲?guó)際貿(mào)易理論與實(shí)務(wù),曾從事外貿(mào)進(jìn)出口業(yè)務(wù)數(shù)年。主編《世界十大投資經(jīng)典敗局》、《啟蒙中國(guó)》,參編《商務(wù)英語寫作》,在核心刊物上發(fā)表論文數(shù)篇。

插圖:1. The Brief Introduction to International TradeTrading is one of the most basic activities of mankind. It has existed in every society, every part of the world, and in fact every day since the caveman came into being. International trade is a business which involves the crossing of national borders. It not only includes international trade and foreign manufacturing, but also encompasses the growing services industry in areas such as transportation, tourism, banking, advertising, construction, retailing, wholesaling and mass communications. It includes all business transactions that involve two or more countries. Such business relationship may be private or governmental. In the case of private firms the transactions are for profit. Government-sponsored activities in international business may or may not have a profit orientation.In order to pursue any of these objectives, a company must establish international operational forms, some of which may be quite different from those used domestically. The choice of forms is influenced not only by the objective being pursued, but also by the environments in which the forms must operate. These environmental conditions also affect the means of carrying out business functions such as marketing. At the same time, the company operating internationally will affect to a lesser degree, the environment in which it is operating.2. The Characteristics of Merchandise Import & ExportThe fundamental characteristic that makes international trade different from domestic trade is that international trade involves activities that take place across national borders. Special problems may be arisen in international trades that are not normally involved when trading at home.
