前言

  教育部《大學(xué)英語課程教學(xué)要求》(以下簡(jiǎn)稱《課程要求》)明確指出:“我國(guó)幅員遼闊,各地區(qū)、各高校之間情況差異較大,大學(xué)英語教學(xué)應(yīng)按照分類指導(dǎo)、因材施教的原則,以適應(yīng)個(gè)性化教學(xué)的實(shí)際需要?!薄洞髮W(xué)基礎(chǔ)英語教程》即是依據(jù)《教學(xué)要求》編寫的一套大學(xué)英語教材,主要適用于全國(guó)各高等院校藝術(shù)、體育類學(xué)生、民族地區(qū)學(xué)生和其他一些大學(xué)入學(xué)時(shí)英語基礎(chǔ)相對(duì)薄弱的非英語專業(yè)大學(xué)生.旨在使學(xué)生通過本教材的系統(tǒng)學(xué)習(xí),在英語語言知識(shí)、應(yīng)用技能、學(xué)習(xí)策略和跨文化交際方面能夠達(dá)到《教學(xué)要求》中規(guī)定的高等學(xué)校非英語專業(yè)本科畢業(yè)生應(yīng)達(dá)到的基本要求。  一、編寫原則  《大學(xué)基礎(chǔ)英語教程》在編寫過程中力圖體現(xiàn)以下編寫原則:  1.以《課程要求》為依據(jù),重點(diǎn)培養(yǎng)學(xué)生英語綜合應(yīng)用能力?! ?.以人為本.因人制宜,始終考慮適用對(duì)象的現(xiàn)有英語水平和實(shí)際學(xué)習(xí)需求?! ?.旨在使學(xué)生通過本教材的學(xué)習(xí),做到學(xué)有所用,學(xué)以致用,以用促學(xué),學(xué)用統(tǒng)一。力爭(zhēng)使語言知識(shí)的傳授與語言運(yùn)用能力的提高做到相輔相成、有機(jī)互補(bǔ),既不片面強(qiáng)調(diào)語言知識(shí)的傳授,也不片面強(qiáng)調(diào)沒有堅(jiān)實(shí)基礎(chǔ)的語言能力的提高?! 《⒔滩奶厣 ∨c國(guó)內(nèi)其他大學(xué)英語優(yōu)秀教材相比,本教程的特色主要體現(xiàn)為“唯實(shí)”、“簡(jiǎn)約”、“實(shí)用”、“教育”四個(gè)方面。洞察適用對(duì)象外語水平和學(xué)習(xí)需求之實(shí)并以之為本,教材編著與設(shè)計(jì)力求因應(yīng)適用對(duì)象之求并扼之以要,高度重視學(xué)生綜合文化素養(yǎng)的培養(yǎng)以及所學(xué)外語知識(shí)和技能的實(shí)際應(yīng)用,寓人文素養(yǎng)與道德教育于外語學(xué)習(xí)的潛移默化之中。

  編寫原則與教材特色  本教材專門為全國(guó)各高校藝術(shù)、體育類學(xué)生,民族地區(qū)學(xué)生和其他一些大學(xué)入學(xué)時(shí)英語基礎(chǔ)相對(duì)薄弱的非英語專業(yè)大學(xué)生編寫,編寫體例、課文選材、練習(xí)設(shè)計(jì)等均體現(xiàn)了較強(qiáng)的針對(duì)性?! ∨c國(guó)內(nèi)其他優(yōu)秀教材相比,本教材依據(jù)目標(biāo)學(xué)生實(shí)際情況,教材編寫不求大而全,突出其簡(jiǎn)約而實(shí)用的特點(diǎn),各冊(cè)既各有側(cè)重,又有機(jī)相連。  本教材以《大學(xué)英語課程教學(xué)要求》為依據(jù),重點(diǎn)培養(yǎng)學(xué)生英語綜合應(yīng)用能力,使學(xué)生通過本教材的學(xué)習(xí),做到學(xué)有所用,學(xué)以致用,以用促學(xué),學(xué)用統(tǒng)一。  本教材不僅注重激發(fā)學(xué)生學(xué)習(xí)興趣,培養(yǎng)學(xué)生外語技能,更加注重學(xué)生綜合人文素養(yǎng)的提升和積極人生觀與價(jià)值觀的培養(yǎng),在潛移默化中,啟迪思想,陶冶情操。

  1.International Olympic Committee  The International Olympic Committee is an organization based in Lausanne, Switzerland, created by Pierre de Coubertin and Demetrios Vikelas on June 23, 1894. Its membership consists of 205 National Olympic Committees.  The IOC organizes the modern Olympic Games held in summer and winter, every four years. The first Summer Olympics organized by the International Olympic Committee was held in Athens, Greece, in 1896; the first Winter Olympics in Chamonix, France, in 1924. Until 1992, both Summer and Winter Olympics were held in the same year. After that year, however, the IOC shifted the Winter Olympics to the even years between Summer Games, to help space the planning of the two events two years apart from one another.2. 2000 Sydney Olympics  The Sydney 2000 Summer Olympic Games or the Millennium Games/Games of the New Millennium, officially known as the Games of the XXVII Olympiad, were an international multi-sport event which was celebrated between 13 September and 1 October 2000 in Sydney, New South Wales, Australia. It was the second time that the Summer Olympics were held in the Southern Hemisphere, the first one being in Melbourne in 1956.3. 2004 Athens Olympics.  The 2004 Summer Olympic Games, officially known as the Games of the XXVIII Olym piad, were a premier international multi-sport event held in Athens, Greece from August 13 to August 29, 2004 with the motto Welcome Home. 10,625 athletes competed, some 600 more than expected, accompanied by 5,501 team officials from 201 countries. There were 301 medal events in 28 different sports. Athens 2004 marked the first time since the 1896 Sum mer Olympics that all countries with a National Olympic Committee were in attendance.  ……
