《語篇研究：跨越小句的意義》由馬丁教授和羅斯博士合著，本書是馬丁對其《英語語篇：系統(tǒng)和結(jié)構(gòu)》(English Text：systern and Structure)的發(fā)展和應(yīng)用，是篇章語義學(xué)研究的又一力作。     本書將系統(tǒng)功能語言學(xué)中較晦澀的理論“平民化”，對一些難懂的術(shù)語作了深入淺出的解釋和例析。書中所采用的語料包括多種語類，如故事、議論和立法。本書最大的貢獻是作者提出的分析語篇的五種視角，即評價(Appralsal)、概念(Ideatiorl)、聯(lián)結(jié)Connection)、識別(Icierltlflcation)和篇章格律(Periodicity)，并在第七章里將這五種視角綜合運用于分析南非前總統(tǒng)曼德拉自傳最后一章。     本書充分體現(xiàn)和發(fā)展了韓禮德的系統(tǒng)功能語言學(xué)思想，將語篇分析從詞匯語法層上升到大語篇層。本書言簡意賅，邏輯嚴謹，提供的方法易于操作，是一部不可多得的語篇分析指導(dǎo)用書。
