本書共分四部分，43單元，絕大多數(shù)材料選編自英、美國(guó)家出版的百科全書，語言地道；對(duì)所涉及到的土地面積、人口數(shù)量等的統(tǒng)計(jì)，我們通過查閱大量的、最新的統(tǒng)計(jì)資料做了相應(yīng)的更正，以保證所提供的數(shù)據(jù)的可靠性、準(zhǔn)確性。作者還在每單元之后還精心設(shè)計(jì)了若干道多項(xiàng)選擇題和討論題，這一方面可檢測(cè)學(xué)生的閱讀理解能力，另一方面可幫助學(xué)生消化理解所學(xué)到的知識(shí)。
