?。?) Do you think that daughters are always more similar to mothers than to male relatives?- Yes, I think so. Young girls watch their mothers, seeing how to dress, how to cook and how to interact with men. Their future behaviors would be more similar to their mothers than to male relatives.- Well, I don't think so, at least not always. Although daughters are indeed similar to their mothers in such things as cooking or doing housework, they are moresimilar to their fathers in personalities.l think fathers usually exert greaterinfluence on kids in the development of personality.(3) What about sons and fathers?- Yes, I think so. It seems that most boys start "rejecting" their mothers early on in. life as part of growing up, so it's hard for moms to be close with them. On the contrary, they prefer to stay with their fathers and do some so-called manly activities. Asa result, sons are more similar to their fathers in behaviors and hobbies.(4) In terms of personality, are people more influenced by their family or by the irfriends? In what ways? To my mind, people are definitely more influenced by their family in respect of personality. Family is where one starts.lt shapes one's personality more thanfriends or other people. If children live with acceptance, they learn to find love in the world. However, if children live with hostility, they learn to fight.I believe it's the family that influences people's personality more. The familyinstructs children and gives guidance about personal values and social behavior.Children learn at home about respecting and caring for others9 and takingresponsibility, which feeds into their relationships at school, on the sports field, at work and, eventually, into their own families as adults.- I think people's personality is mainly determined by their genes. In this sense, family hasobviously greater influence on one's personality. Friends might influence one's ideas aboutcertain issues, but they cannot have vital impact on one's personality.(5) What'are the changes in family structure in China recently?- The biggest difference, I suppase, lies in the family size.Today's families aregetting smaller and smaller. There are fewer families with three generations livingunder the same roof and young people move out at an earlier age. DINK families arenot uncommon in big cities. haven't been confined to kitchen and have got more involved in family decisions. Insome families, females even become the bread-winners and play a crucial role in making decisions.(6) Should parents award kids if they get some achievements?- Yes, it's beneficial to award children for their good conducts and achieve-ments. Children will feel encouraged and then positive and enthusiastic to life.- I think oral praise is good for children but not material or financial awards. Parentsshould breathe into children the idea that they should be responsible for their con-ducts and don't expect award for their own duty.(7) What are the elderly people's problems now?- I think the common problem of elderly people is that they're lonely. With the growing up of the children, many families become "empty nets." That means only old coupleslive together. They are financially sufficient but mentally lonely. Besides, there is little special entertainment for elderly people.(8) What should the government do to improve the elderly people's life?I think the government should improve the welfare system to allow more elderlypeople to enter nursing houses or something like this. Thus they can get better careand companionship. The society should be friendlier to elderly people, such asputting aside seats particularly for the aged in buses and subways, setting up elderlydress counters in clothes stores and constructing sport facilities for the aged.(9) Do you think it is good for young people to live with their grandparents?Yes, I think it is good to both. At first, the elderly grandparents can get better careat home. They will feel needed and respected with children and grandchildrensurrounded. For young people who live with their grandparents, they can get helpfuladvice from their grandparents, which may help themselves make fewer mistakes in life.- Personally, I don't like living in an extended family with grandparents. Althoughevery member can get more care from one another, there will be more conflicts.Anyway, it's difficult to find the common ground between the young and the elderly.I prefer to live separately but pay frequent visits to them. ……
