內(nèi)容概要

　　This book has grown out of the former anthology Short Stories
of the English Language: A Course Book published by Chongqing
University Press in 2009. In that book we have laid heavy emphasis
on language, theme, characters,plot, and stylistic matters. Here
this Great Stories anthology aims to read those same stories as in
the Course Book more profoundly and more academically. For this
purpose, we have deleted the after-text exercises, added short
summaries and commentary entailed by a further reading list, and
most importantly, supplied each story with more detailed linguistic
and cultural notes in order that our readers--students and
teachers--can understand more tangibly.

作者簡介

　　羅益民，北京大學(xué)博士，西南大學(xué)教授，博士生、訪問學(xué)者導(dǎo)師，重慶市莎士比亞研究會(huì)會(huì)長，重慶市翻譯家協(xié)會(huì)副會(huì)長。在中、美，韓等國學(xué)術(shù)期刊上發(fā)表有論文68篇，曾赴美、澳、韓、中國臺(tái)灣、捷克等國家和地區(qū)進(jìn)行學(xué)術(shù)交流，出版有《時(shí)間的鐮刀》、《莎士比亞十四行詩名篇詳注》、《英國文學(xué)選讀》(與劉炳善教授合編，國家十一五規(guī)劃教材)、《英語短篇小說教程》、《雙語詞典新論》等著作。主持研究國家哲學(xué)社會(huì)科學(xué)基金項(xiàng)目“莎士比亞十四行詩版本批評(píng)史”、教育部留學(xué)回國人員科研啟動(dòng)基金項(xiàng)目“莎士比亞十四行詩詩學(xué)文體。
