內(nèi)容概要

　　《英美文學(xué)欣賞》共由22個(gè)單元組成。英國(guó)文學(xué)和美國(guó)文學(xué)各11個(gè)單元。英國(guó)文學(xué)包括五位散文家和六位小說(shuō)家的經(jīng)典名著。本書收入了散文家如培根、約翰遜博士、王爾德、羅素、福斯特等的名篇。涉及的小說(shuō)篇目有《傲慢與偏見》、《簡(jiǎn)·愛》、《雙城記》、《人性枷鎖》、《兒子與情人》、《一個(gè)青年藝術(shù)家的肖像》等。另外，還有莎士比亞的《羅密歐與朱麗葉》“陽(yáng)臺(tái)相會(huì)”節(jié)選和一首十四行詩(shī)以及彭斯、華茲華斯、雪萊和丁尼生的著名短詩(shī)?！　∶绹?guó)文學(xué)中共選人三位散文家和七位小說(shuō)家的不朽名篇。主要有富蘭克林的自傳、愛默森和梭羅的散文名篇，馬克·吐溫的小說(shuō)《哈克貝利·芬歷險(xiǎn)記》和《湯姆·索亞歷險(xiǎn)記》、詹姆斯的《女士畫像》、歐·亨利的短篇小說(shuō)《麥琪的禮物》和《警察與贊美詩(shī)》以及?？思{的著名短篇《獻(xiàn)給愛米麗小姐的玫瑰花》。其他名家的長(zhǎng)篇小說(shuō)節(jié)選有《了不起的蓋茨比》、《麥田里的守望者》和海明威的《老人與?！返?。另外還有《生命禮贊》、《未選之路》等既有哲理又優(yōu)美可誦的短詩(shī)。

　　作品簡(jiǎn)介　　《羅密歐與朱麗葉》是一部感人至深、催人淚下的愛情悲劇?！　≡诿蔷S洛那，有兩家門第相當(dāng)?shù)拿T望族——蒙太古家族（Montague）和凱普萊特家族（Capulet），累世的宿怨使兩家勢(shì)不兩立，經(jīng)常刀劍相向，發(fā)生流血沖突。兩個(gè)家族中的一對(duì)青年羅密歐與朱麗葉卻相愛了，好心的神父為他們舉行了秘密婚禮?？墒牵谝粓?chǎng)爭(zhēng)斗中，羅密歐卻失手殺了凱普萊特家族中的人，遭到放逐。朱麗葉的父母執(zhí)意讓她嫁給另一個(gè)貴族青年。神父設(shè)妙計(jì)讓朱麗葉喝下一種藥液，可以佯死42個(gè)小時(shí)，待家人將其下葬，再讓羅密歐趕來(lái)相見，兩人一同逃走。不幸的是，羅密歐沒有得到這一真實(shí)情況。他趕到墓穴，以為朱麗葉真的死去，便服毒自殺。朱麗葉醒來(lái)，看見羅密歐的尸體，遂用匕首結(jié)束了自己的生命。兩個(gè)在家族世仇下慘遭犧牲的年輕人以悲壯的殉情，終于使兩家化干戈為玉帛?！　≌牵骸肮磐駚?lái)多少離合悲歡，誰(shuí)曾見這樣的哀怨辛酸?！薄　　?/pre>
