前言

　　為適應(yīng)我國(guó)高等教育發(fā)展的新形式，深化教學(xué)改革，提高教學(xué)質(zhì)量，滿足新時(shí)期國(guó)家和社會(huì)對(duì)人才培養(yǎng)的需要，教育部于2007年7月頒發(fā)了《大學(xué)英語(yǔ)課程教學(xué)要求》，進(jìn)一步明確了大學(xué)英語(yǔ)的教學(xué)目標(biāo)是“培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的英語(yǔ)綜合應(yīng)用能力，特別是聽說能力，使他們?cè)诮窈髮W(xué)習(xí)、工作和社會(huì)交往中能用英語(yǔ)有效地進(jìn)行交際，同時(shí)增強(qiáng)其自主學(xué)習(xí)能力，提高綜合文化素養(yǎng)，以適應(yīng)我國(guó)社會(huì)發(fā)展和國(guó)際交流的需要”?！　〗陙?，大學(xué)英語(yǔ)四級(jí)考試題型和內(nèi)容革故鼎新，日臻完善，對(duì)于學(xué)生聽力水平的要求越來越高。聽力由原來所占20％的整體比例一躍提升為35％。2008年12月開始試行的大學(xué)英語(yǔ)四級(jí)計(jì)算機(jī)考試中內(nèi)容包括70％的聽力和30％的閱讀。作文采用“聽力+作文”的模式。而新增的“跟讀”試題，則是給一段語(yǔ)音材料，讓學(xué)生復(fù)述，考查考生的發(fā)音和英語(yǔ)表達(dá)能力。機(jī)考是“一人一機(jī)一套題”，考題涉及諸多領(lǐng)域，大多為CNN、VOA、BBC等媒體的講座、報(bào)告、對(duì)話、訪談、新聞等，語(yǔ)音上由過去單純的美音朗讀變?yōu)楝F(xiàn)在的英音和美音交替朗讀?！　〗逃扛呓趟緦?duì)高等教育聽力也有了新的思路和指導(dǎo)，以聽力為基礎(chǔ)的大學(xué)英語(yǔ)四、六級(jí)考試顛覆了以前閱讀先行或閱讀聽力并行的狀況，聽力成為說、讀、寫、譯的基礎(chǔ)。英語(yǔ)聽力是綱，其他都是目，只有抓住了聽力，才能綱舉目張。

內(nèi)容概要

　　Catherine Gram graduated from the University of Chicago in1938 and got a job as a news reporter in San Francisco. Catherinesfather used to be a successful investment banker.In 1933， hebought a failing newspaper， The Washington Post. Then Catherinereturned to Washington and got a job， editing letters in her fathersnewspaper. She married Philip Gram， who took over his father-in-laws position shortly after and became a publisher of The Washing-ton Post. But for many years， her husband suffered from mental ill-ness and he killed himself in 1963. After her husbands death，Catherine operated the newspaper. In the 1970s， the newspaper be-came famous around the world and Catherine was also recognized asan important leader in newspaper publishing. She was the firstwoman to head a major American publishing mmpany， the Washing-ton Post company. In a few years， she successfully expanded the companto include newspaper， magazine， broadcast and cable mrnpanies.　　She died of head injuries after a fall when she was 84. Morethan 3 thousand people attended her funeral， including many gov-ernment and business leaders. Her friends said she would be remem-bered as a woman who had an important influence on events in theUnited States and the world. Catherine once wrote， "The worldwithout newspapers would not be the same kind of world. " Afterher death， the employees of the Washington Post wrote， "Theworld without Catherine would not be the same at all. "
