前言
《經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)》是我國高等院校為經(jīng)濟(jì)和管理類專業(yè)本科生開設(shè)的專業(yè)基礎(chǔ)課,授課對(duì)象是經(jīng)濟(jì)和管理類專業(yè)本科低年級(jí)學(xué)生。2000年,我開始為本科低年級(jí)學(xué)生開設(shè)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)原理雙語課程。由于經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)舶來品的性質(zhì)以及外文原版教材在內(nèi)容、編排方式等方面的優(yōu)越性,我們使用了邁克爾·帕金的原版教材Economics進(jìn)行雙語教學(xué)。本雙語改編教材通過北京高等教育精品教材立項(xiàng)。經(jīng)過9年的雙語教學(xué)實(shí)踐,我發(fā)現(xiàn):由于國內(nèi)外文化傳統(tǒng)、教學(xué)體系和教學(xué)要求的差異,原版教材和我國高校的教學(xué)體系和教學(xué)習(xí)慣有很大差異,部分內(nèi)容已經(jīng)超出國內(nèi)的教學(xué)要求;此外,由于國內(nèi)的教學(xué)計(jì)劃的調(diào)整,國內(nèi)的經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)課程的教學(xué)學(xué)時(shí)都有所縮減。而國外原版教材的體系結(jié)構(gòu)通常比較龐大,在一個(gè)學(xué)期的學(xué)時(shí)里要講完厚厚的一本教材,實(shí)屬不易。所以,根據(jù)對(duì)帕金《經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)》的多年使用經(jīng)驗(yàn),我們決定吸收原版教材使用的優(yōu)點(diǎn),彌補(bǔ)其不足,在原版教材的基礎(chǔ)上,進(jìn)行雙語教材的改編。帕金Economics(第7版)對(duì)于國內(nèi)雙語教學(xué)的適用有雙重性。一方面。該書結(jié)構(gòu)嚴(yán)謹(jǐn)邏輯嚴(yán)謹(jǐn),適合中國人的閱讀習(xí)慣;語言非常通俗淺顯,對(duì)中國學(xué)生的語言瓶頸較小。案例豐富、章節(jié)安排易于教、學(xué)。另一方面,和國內(nèi)的教學(xué)實(shí)際學(xué)時(shí)相比,該書內(nèi)容又過于全面、深入,涵蓋了基礎(chǔ)經(jīng)濟(jì)學(xué)的方方面面,通常一個(gè)學(xué)期的教學(xué)學(xué)時(shí)遠(yuǎn)遠(yuǎn)無法完成;另外,和許多同類原版教材相比,該書在教學(xué)案例、與閱讀者的互動(dòng)性方面還有加強(qiáng)的空間。因此,如何在改編時(shí)既保留原版教材的原汁原味的基本內(nèi)容和體例,又在內(nèi)容、框架的安排上加以縮減和調(diào)整,在案例和互動(dòng)性方面加強(qiáng),使之更加適合國內(nèi)的雙語教學(xué)的實(shí)際要求,是我們的改編工作著重考慮的事情。我們所進(jìn)行的改編工作主要體現(xiàn)的思想是:1.充分考慮到當(dāng)前我國在本科教育階段推廣雙語教學(xué)的進(jìn)度安排,改編后的教材章節(jié)內(nèi)容有所壓縮,使教材貼近中國教學(xué)大綱,在內(nèi)容上力求規(guī)范簡(jiǎn)明,邏輯更加清晰。2.保持原版教材在體系結(jié)構(gòu)和內(nèi)容特色方面的風(fēng)貌,并體現(xiàn)原版教材語言上的原汁原味的特色。3.對(duì)體現(xiàn)原理的重點(diǎn)句、難句以及專業(yè)詞匯和生詞進(jìn)行中文注釋,降低原版教材的閱讀難度。4.在價(jià)格上較原版教材有大幅度降低,達(dá)到學(xué)生買得起、教師愿意用的效果。

作者:(英國)邁克爾·帕金(Michael Parkin) 改編:王雅璨Michael Parkin, received his training as an economist at the Universities of Leicester and Essex in England. Currently in the Department of Economics at the University of Western Ontario, Canada, Professor Parkin has held faculty appointments at Brown University, the University of Manchester, the University of Essex, and Bond University. He is a past president of the Canadian Economics Association and has served on the editorial boards of the American EconomicReview and the Journal of Monetary Economics and as managing editor of theCanadian Journal of Economics. Professor Parkin's research on macroeconomics,monetary economics, and international economics has resulted in over 160 publications in journals and edited volumes, including the American Economic Review, the Journal of Political Economy, the Review of Economic Studies, the Journal of Monetary Economics, and the Journal of Money, Credit and Banking.He became most visible to the public with his work on inflation that discredited the use of wage and price controls. Michael Parkin also spearheaded the movement toward European monetary union. Professor Parkin is an experienced and dedicated teacher of introductory economics.

Everyone ends up with some unsatisfied wants.What as a society we can get is limited by our productive resources. These resources include the gifts of nature, human labor and ingenuity, and tools and equipment that we have produced.Our inability to satisfy all our wants is called scarcity. The poor and the rich alike face scarcity. Achild wants a $1.00 can of soda and two 50~ packs of gum but has only $1.00 in his pocket. He faces scarcity.
