研究生英語每日精練

前言

　　目前，市面上研究生英語方面的輔導(dǎo)書可謂多如牛毛，但很少有能夠在打好學(xué)生基本功的基礎(chǔ)上全方位訓(xùn)練學(xué)生能力、讓學(xué)生愛不釋手的教學(xué)配套書。為此，我們特地組織了一批具有豐富教學(xué)經(jīng)驗、長期從事研究生英語教學(xué)工作的專家教授共同編寫了這本《研究生英語每日精練》。其所謂“每日”，主要因為語言知識的學(xué)習(xí)要靠平時一點一滴的積累，“三天打魚，兩天曬網(wǎng)”是學(xué)不好的；所謂“精練”是指語言學(xué)習(xí)貴在“操練”，“熟能生巧”就是這個道理，練可以達到一舉兩得的目的：一是溫習(xí)舊知識，二是掌握新知識。孔子說得好：“溫故而知新，可以為師矣?！薄　”緯皇羌兇獾牧?xí)題集，而是一本便捷的學(xué)習(xí)用書。學(xué)習(xí)的重要方式是讀書，讀書就要思考?！皩W(xué)而不思則罔，思而不學(xué)則殆”，由此可見學(xué)習(xí)與思考的重要性。為此，我們對本書作了如下設(shè)計：　　1.全書內(nèi)容按周設(shè)計，共20周，既可作為研究生英語泛讀教材，也可作其他英語愛好者準備全國大學(xué)英語六級考試的配套教材使用?！　?.周一至周四側(cè)重于由大學(xué)英語六級水準的短文閱讀引出的思考練習(xí)題，其中包括：　?。?）根據(jù)短文內(nèi)容選擇正確答案，限定于10分鐘內(nèi)完成；　?。?）重點句子或表達法英漢互譯，這些句子和表達法選自于短文或根據(jù)短文改編而成，限定于6分鐘內(nèi)完成；　　（3）另外，我們還在每周設(shè)計了完形填空、詞匯搭配、單詞解釋等其他題型，以進一步培養(yǎng)學(xué)生綜合運用英語的能力。　　3.周五為一專題講座，主要為大家介紹一些著名的英美作家及其作品，以提高大家對文學(xué)的興趣和鑒賞力。　　4.每日一則“佳譯欣賞”，讓讀者品味翻譯的魅力?！　?.書后附有“參考答案”，書中出現(xiàn)的所有練習(xí)的答案均能從中找到，使學(xué)習(xí)者做到既“知其然”又“知其所以然”。

內(nèi)容概要

JamesJackson， of the University of Michigan， has found a similar trend among black Caribbeanimmigrants. Tells fears that Mexican-Americans may be fated to follow in the footsteps ofAmerican blacks-that large parts of the community may become mired （陷入） in a seeminglypermanent state of poverty and underachievement. Like African-Americans， Mexican-Americansare increasingly relegated to （隆入） segregated， substandard schools， and their dropout rate isthe highest for any ethnic group in the country.　　We have learned much about the foolish idea of excluding people on the presumption of theethnic/racial inferiority. But what we have not yet learned is how to make the process ofAmericanization work for all. I am not talking about requiting people to learn English or to adoptAmerican ways； those things happen pretty much on their own， but as arguments aboutimmigration hear up the campaign trail， we also ought to ask some broader question aboutassimilation， about how to ensure that people， once outsiders， dont forever remain marginalizedwithin these shores.　　That is a much larger question than what should happen with undocumented workers， orhow best to secure the border， and it is one that affects not only newcomers but groups that havebeen here for generations. It will have more impact on our future than where we decide to set theadmissions bar for the latest wave of would-be Americans. And it would be nice if we finally gotthe answer tight.
