《建筑類專業(yè)英語(yǔ)》是以大學(xué)英語(yǔ)“通用詞匯表”的4000個(gè)單詞為起點(diǎn)，每個(gè)專業(yè)類別的三冊(cè)書將增加1000～1200個(gè)閱讀本專業(yè)必需掌握的詞匯。本教材重視語(yǔ)言技能訓(xùn)練，突出對(duì)閱讀、翻譯和寫作能力的培養(yǎng)，以求達(dá)到《大學(xué)英語(yǔ)專業(yè)閱讀階段教學(xué)基本要求》所提出的教學(xué)目標(biāo)：“通過(guò)指導(dǎo)學(xué)生閱讀有關(guān)專業(yè)的英語(yǔ)書刊和文獻(xiàn)，使他們進(jìn)一步提高閱讀和翻譯科技資料的能力，并能以英語(yǔ)為工具獲取專業(yè)所需的信息?！?   《建筑類專業(yè)英語(yǔ)》每?jī)?cè)16個(gè)單元，每個(gè)單元一篇正課文（TEXT），兩篇副課文（Reading Material A＆B），每個(gè)單元平均2000個(gè)詞，三冊(cè)48個(gè)單元，總共約有十萬(wàn)個(gè)詞，相當(dāng)于原版書三百多頁(yè)。要培養(yǎng)較強(qiáng)的閱讀能力，讀十萬(wàn)個(gè)詞的文獻(xiàn)，是起碼的要求。如果專業(yè)課教師在第六和第七學(xué)期，在學(xué)生通過(guò)學(xué)習(xí)本教材已經(jīng)掌握了數(shù)百個(gè)專業(yè)科技詞匯的基礎(chǔ)上，配合專業(yè)課程的學(xué)習(xí)，再指定學(xué)生看一部分相應(yīng)的專業(yè)英語(yǔ)科技文獻(xiàn)，那將會(huì)既促進(jìn)專業(yè)課的學(xué)習(xí)，又提高英語(yǔ)閱讀能力，實(shí)為兩得之舉。    本教材不僅適用于在校學(xué)生，對(duì)于有志提高專業(yè)英語(yǔ)閱讀能力的建筑行業(yè)廣大在職工程技術(shù)人員，也是一套適用的自學(xué)教材。
