為了滿足北京市廣大高職高專畢業(yè)生參加高職升本科大學(xué)公共英語考試的需求，我們組織精干的力量編寫了這本指導(dǎo)手冊。其最終目的就是使考生通過做題了解并掌握該項(xiàng)考試的基本題型和難易程度，從而在復(fù)習(xí)時(shí)明確方向。北京市高職升本科招生統(tǒng)一考試是由合格的高職高專應(yīng)屆畢業(yè)生參加的選拔性考試。英語科目考試要求考生對英語知識的掌握能達(dá)到普通高校在校生非英語專業(yè)二年級學(xué)生應(yīng)具備的水平，同時(shí)能達(dá)到進(jìn)入本科院校繼續(xù)學(xué)習(xí)的基本要求。
另外，北京市高職升本科大學(xué)公共英語考試的重點(diǎn)是考查學(xué)生的讀、寫、譯和綜合運(yùn)用語言的能力?？忌谠~匯量上要掌握3
400個(gè)左右的英語詞匯(包括動詞短語)，能在語言交際中準(zhǔn)確運(yùn)用。要掌握英語的基本語法結(jié)構(gòu)和常用句型，能正確理解采用這些句型結(jié)構(gòu)寫成的句子，能綜合運(yùn)用英語語言知識，閱讀語言難度中等、一般性題材的文章(如科技、經(jīng)貿(mào)、文化、人物等應(yīng)用性題材的文章)，既能抓住篇章大意，又能注意文章細(xì)節(jié)；既能理解文章上下文的邏輯關(guān)系，又能領(lǐng)會作者的觀點(diǎn)和態(tài)度。閱讀速度應(yīng)達(dá)到每分鐘65～70個(gè)單詞。英譯漢要求能把一般社會日常生活和科學(xué)常識性的英文句子譯成漢語，要求理解正確，譯文通順達(dá)意。
　
該項(xiàng)考試還要求考生具有用英語書面表達(dá)思想的基本能力。要求所寫文字切合主題，覆蓋所有內(nèi)容要點(diǎn)，意思連貫，應(yīng)用較好的語法結(jié)構(gòu)和詞匯，標(biāo)點(diǎn)正確，無較大語法錯(cuò)誤?？忌谝?guī)定時(shí)間內(nèi)寫出一篇l00單詞的應(yīng)用性短文。
該項(xiàng)考試試卷65分為客觀試題，35分為主觀試題，滿分為l00分?？陀^試題部分包括詞語用法和語法結(jié)構(gòu)、閱讀理解和完形填空三個(gè)部分，考試建議時(shí)間為70分鐘；主觀試題部分包括詞型變化、英澤漢和應(yīng)用文寫作三個(gè)部分，考試建議時(shí)間為50分鐘；整場考試為時(shí)t20分鐘。
需要指出的是，我們所編寫的這本指導(dǎo)手冊不是唯一的指導(dǎo)書，考生在做題的同時(shí)，還需在日常學(xué)習(xí)中積累和掌握3
400左右的英語詞匯，并進(jìn)行全面復(fù)習(xí)方能具備能力和信心參加該項(xiàng)考試。

　　Except for the sun， the moon looks the biggest object in the sky. Actually it is one of the smallest，and only looks big because it is so near to us. Its diameter is only 2 160 miles （3 389 km）， or a little morethan a quarter of the diameter of the earth.　　Once a month， or， more exactly， once every 29.5 days， at the time we call "full moon"， its wholedisc looks bright. At other times only part ofit appears bright， and we always find that this is the partwhich faces towards the sun， while the part facing away from the sun appears dark. People could maketheir pictures better if they kept this in mind - only those parts of the moon which are lighted up bythe sun are brighter. This shows that the moon gives no light ofits own. It only throws back the light ofthe sun， like a huge mirror hung in the sky.　　Yet the dark part of the moon's surface is not completely black； usually it is just light enough for usto be able to see its shape， so that we speak of seeing "the old moon in the new moon's arms". The lightby which we see the old moon does not come from the sun， but from the earth. We know well how thesurface of the sea or of snow， or even of a wet road， may throw back uncomfortably much of the sun'slight on to our faces. In the same way the surface of the whole earth throws back enough of the suns light on to the face of the moon for us to be able to see the parts ofit which would otherwise be dark. 　　......
