內(nèi)容概要

　　全國英語等級考試(Public English Test
System，簡稱PETS)是教育部考試中心設(shè)計并負責的全國性英語水平考試。PETS是我國惟一面向全體社會公民的多級別的權(quán)威英語測試體系，人們可以根據(jù)自己的英語水平選擇參加其中任何一個級別的考試。PETs分為筆試和口試兩個相對獨立的考查部分，對考生聽、說、讀、寫等能力進行全面考查，對合格者頒發(fā)相應(yīng)的英語等級證書，以滿足社會上英語能力鑒定和人才市場的需求。
　　高等教育自學考試?？坪捅究频墓灿⒄Z考試己分別承認PETs一2和PETS一3考試。PET8—5考試已經(jīng)替代了主要用于評價公派出國留學人員英語水平的全國外語水平考試(WSK)中的英語水平考試(EPT)。PETS一2和IPETS一4考試的標準和題型已經(jīng)用于改造了全國普通高考和全國碩士研究生入學統(tǒng)一考試中的英語考試。有關(guān)省份的普通高考英語聽力考試成績采用了PETs一2聽力考試成績，高考外語類考生的口試使用了PETS－2口試。

　　The day was like any other day in his life. Tom walked past the shop on the street comer. He stopped to look at the front row of shoes， and he felt happy to see that the pair of shoes he wanted very much were still there. Looking down， he felt sorry for himself. He really wanted to have them for his birthday.　　He sadly walked away and thought how to tell his mother about it. He knew she would give him anything he liked if she could. But he also knew very well she had little money. He decided not to go home at once because he didn't want his mother to be worded about him. So he went to the park and sat on the grass. Then he saw a boy in a wheel chair. He notice that the boy moved the wheel with his hands. Tom looked at his own feet， "It's much better than being without feet."
