內(nèi)容概要

　　全國(guó)英語(yǔ)等級(jí)考試(Public English Test
System，簡(jiǎn)稱(chēng)PETS)是教育部考試中心設(shè)計(jì)并負(fù)責(zé)的全國(guó)性英語(yǔ)水平考試。PETS是我國(guó)惟一面向全體社會(huì)公民的多級(jí)別的權(quán)威英語(yǔ)測(cè)試體系，人們可以根據(jù)自己的英語(yǔ)水平選擇參加其中任何一個(gè)級(jí)別的考試。PETs分為筆試和口試兩個(gè)相對(duì)獨(dú)立的考查部分，對(duì)考生聽(tīng)、說(shuō)、讀、寫(xiě)等能力進(jìn)行全面考查，對(duì)合格者頒發(fā)相應(yīng)的英語(yǔ)等級(jí)證書(shū)，以滿(mǎn)足社會(huì)上英語(yǔ)能力鑒定和人才市場(chǎng)的需求。
　　高等教育自學(xué)考試專(zhuān)科和本科的公共英語(yǔ)考試己分別承認(rèn)PETs一2和PETS一3考試。PET8—5考試已經(jīng)替代了主要用于評(píng)價(jià)公派出國(guó)留學(xué)人員英語(yǔ)水平的全國(guó)外語(yǔ)水平考試(WSK)中的英語(yǔ)水平考試(EPT)。PETS一2和IPETS一4考試的標(biāo)準(zhǔn)和題型已經(jīng)用于改造了全國(guó)普通高考和全國(guó)碩士研究生入學(xué)統(tǒng)一考試中的英語(yǔ)考試。有關(guān)省份的普通高考英語(yǔ)聽(tīng)力考試成績(jī)采用了PETs一2聽(tīng)力考試成績(jī)，高考外語(yǔ)類(lèi)考生的口試使用了PETS－2口試。

　　The day was like any other day in his life. Tom walked past the shop on the street comer. He stopped to look at the front row of shoes， and he felt happy to see that the pair of shoes he wanted very much were still there. Looking down， he felt sorry for himself. He really wanted to have them for his birthday.　　He sadly walked away and thought how to tell his mother about it. He knew she would give him anything he liked if she could. But he also knew very well she had little money. He decided not to go home at once because he didn't want his mother to be worded about him. So he went to the park and sat on the grass. Then he saw a boy in a wheel chair. He notice that the boy moved the wheel with his hands. Tom looked at his own feet， "It's much better than being without feet."
