新通用大學(xué)英語(yǔ)快速閱讀

前言

　　《通用大學(xué)英語(yǔ)》是國(guó)家“九五”重點(diǎn)科技攻關(guān)項(xiàng)目，最早出版于1998年8月，是國(guó)內(nèi)開發(fā)較早的一套面向?qū)W習(xí)者需求的系列電子教材。《新通用大學(xué)英語(yǔ)》是在《通用大學(xué)英語(yǔ)》的研究、開發(fā)與應(yīng)用的基礎(chǔ)上，依據(jù)教育部頒布的《大學(xué)英語(yǔ)課程教學(xué)要求》重新研發(fā)的一套供大學(xué)基礎(chǔ)階段英語(yǔ)教學(xué)使用的立體化系列教材。本系列教材共分四級(jí)，每級(jí)由《綜合教程》、《聽說(shuō)教程》、《閱讀教程》、《綜合技能訓(xùn)練》、《快速閱讀》、《教學(xué)參考書》以及配套的電子教案和網(wǎng)絡(luò)課程等組成?！　∮⒄Z(yǔ)閱讀是獲取信息的主要手段，也是學(xué)習(xí)和掌握語(yǔ)言的有效途徑，閱讀能力的培養(yǎng)是大學(xué)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)的一項(xiàng)重要任務(wù)，《大學(xué)英語(yǔ)課程教學(xué)要求》對(duì)其做出了定性與定量的要求。對(duì)于廣大非英語(yǔ)專業(yè)大學(xué)生而言，只有通過(guò)大量閱讀，才能獲得足夠的語(yǔ)言輸入，打下扎實(shí)的英語(yǔ)基礎(chǔ)，形成較強(qiáng)的英語(yǔ)語(yǔ)感，從而提高英語(yǔ)綜合應(yīng)用能力。英語(yǔ)閱讀能力包含諸多要素，而快速處理閱讀材料所含信息的能力是其中極其重要的微技能。在當(dāng)今這個(gè)“信息爆炸”、新知識(shí)呈幾何級(jí)數(shù)增長(zhǎng)的時(shí)代，快速閱讀技能的重要性愈加突出。而快速閱讀技能的培養(yǎng)需要有適當(dāng)?shù)恼Z(yǔ)料與教材作支撐，《新通用大學(xué)英語(yǔ)快速閱讀》的編寫正是為滿足目前國(guó)內(nèi)大學(xué)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)的這一現(xiàn)實(shí)需求。根據(jù)《大學(xué)英語(yǔ)課程教學(xué)要求》，一般要求的閱讀理解部分要求學(xué)生“能基本讀懂一般性題材的英文文章，閱讀速度達(dá)到每分鐘70詞。在快速閱讀篇幅較長(zhǎng)、難度略低的材料時(shí)，閱讀速度達(dá)到每分鐘10（）詞。能就閱讀材料進(jìn)行略讀和尋讀。能借助詞典閱讀本專業(yè)的英語(yǔ)教材和題材熟悉的英文報(bào)刊文章，掌握中心大意，理解主要事實(shí)和有關(guān)細(xì)節(jié)。能讀懂工作、生活中常見的應(yīng)用文體的材料。能在閱讀中使用有效的閱讀方法。”本教程的編寫正是以《大學(xué)英語(yǔ)課程教學(xué)要求》為依據(jù)，采取“主題與技能”相結(jié)合的編寫模式，即單元內(nèi)容設(shè)置圍繞單元主題，練習(xí)設(shè)計(jì)針對(duì)閱讀技能，并通過(guò)先進(jìn)的計(jì)算機(jī)技術(shù)和有趣的游戲設(shè)計(jì)來(lái)有效訓(xùn)練并提高閱讀技能。編寫組期望通過(guò)本教程的學(xué)習(xí)與操練，學(xué)習(xí)者的閱讀速度能得到快速提高，從而能在較短時(shí)間內(nèi)獲取并處理大量的文字信息?！　”鞠盗薪滩拿考?jí)后附有一張配套的趣味訓(xùn)練多媒體學(xué)習(xí)光盤，可供大學(xué)英語(yǔ)教學(xué)1-4學(xué)期使用。每?jī)?cè)教材有16個(gè)單元，每個(gè)單元有三篇文章，其中兩篇在紙質(zhì)教材中，一篇在趣味訓(xùn)練多媒體學(xué)習(xí)光盤中。每個(gè)單元在原有《綜合教程》主題的基礎(chǔ)上，又進(jìn)行了適當(dāng)擴(kuò)展，增加了一些與學(xué)生的日常生活和學(xué)習(xí)、社會(huì)、文化等相關(guān)的主題。

　　Signal words, which authors use in writing. provide an aid for the reader to grasp the thread of thought in thematerial. By using signal words to predict what may come next, the reader can decide whether he should speedup his reading, slow down or pause to make sure what is being read is understood. Recognizing the signal words,therefore, becomes important to improvement both in reading speed and in comparison.　　There are five basic groups of signal words. You probably know all of them as words, but perhaps you'venever realized their important function in reading and writing.
