新通用大學英語快速閱讀

前言

　　《通用大學英語》是國家“九五”重點科技攻關項目，最早出版于1998年8月，是國內(nèi)開發(fā)較早的一套面向?qū)W習者需求的系列電子教材?！缎峦ㄓ么髮W英語》是在《通用大學英語》的研究、開發(fā)與應用的基礎上，依據(jù)教育部頒布的《大學英語課程教學要求》重新研發(fā)的一套供大學基礎階段英語教學使用的立體化系列教材。本系列教材共分四級，每級由《綜合教程》、《聽說教程》、《閱讀教程》、《綜合技能訓練》、《快速閱讀》、《教學參考書》以及配套的電子教案和網(wǎng)絡課程等組成。　　英語閱讀是獲取信息的主要手段，也是學習和掌握語言的有效途徑，閱讀能力的培養(yǎng)是大學英語教學的一項重要任務，《大學英語課程教學要求》對其做出了定性與定量的要求。對于廣大非英語專業(yè)大學生而言，只有通過大量閱讀，才能獲得足夠的語言輸入，打下扎實的英語基礎，形成較強的英語語感，從而提高英語綜合應用能力。英語閱讀能力包含諸多要素，而快速處理閱讀材料所含信息的能力是其中極其重要的微技能。在當今這個“信息爆炸”、新知識呈幾何級數(shù)增長的時代，快速閱讀技能的重要性愈加突出。而快速閱讀技能的培養(yǎng)需要有適當?shù)恼Z料與教材作支撐，《新通用大學英語快速閱讀》的編寫正是為滿足目前國內(nèi)大學英語教學的這一現(xiàn)實需求。根據(jù)《大學英語課程教學要求》，一般要求的閱讀理解部分要求學生“能基本讀懂一般性題材的英文文章，閱讀速度達到每分鐘70詞。在快速閱讀篇幅較長、難度略低的材料時，閱讀速度達到每分鐘10（）詞。能就閱讀材料進行略讀和尋讀。能借助詞典閱讀本專業(yè)的英語教材和題材熟悉的英文報刊文章，掌握中心大意，理解主要事實和有關細節(jié)。能讀懂工作、生活中常見的應用文體的材料。能在閱讀中使用有效的閱讀方法。”本教程的編寫正是以《大學英語課程教學要求》為依據(jù)，采取“主題與技能”相結(jié)合的編寫模式，即單元內(nèi)容設置圍繞單元主題，練習設計針對閱讀技能，并通過先進的計算機技術和有趣的游戲設計來有效訓練并提高閱讀技能。編寫組期望通過本教程的學習與操練，學習者的閱讀速度能得到快速提高，從而能在較短時間內(nèi)獲取并處理大量的文字信息?！　”鞠盗薪滩拿考壓蟾接幸粡埮涮椎娜の队柧毝嗝襟w學習光盤，可供大學英語教學1-4學期使用。每冊教材有16個單元，每個單元有三篇文章，其中兩篇在紙質(zhì)教材中，一篇在趣味訓練多媒體學習光盤中。每個單元在原有《綜合教程》主題的基礎上，又進行了適當擴展，增加了一些與學生的日常生活和學習、社會、文化等相關的主題。

　　Signal words, which authors use in writing. provide an aid for the reader to grasp the thread of thought in thematerial. By using signal words to predict what may come next, the reader can decide whether he should speedup his reading, slow down or pause to make sure what is being read is understood. Recognizing the signal words,therefore, becomes important to improvement both in reading speed and in comparison.　　There are five basic groups of signal words. You probably know all of them as words, but perhaps you'venever realized their important function in reading and writing.
