前言

　　《通用大學(xué)英語》始出版于1998年8月，是國內(nèi)開發(fā)較早的一套面向?qū)W習(xí)者需求的系列電子教材?！缎峦ㄓ么髮W(xué)英語》是在“九五”國家重點(diǎn)科技攻關(guān)項(xiàng)目——《通用大學(xué)英語》的研究、開發(fā)與應(yīng)用的基礎(chǔ)上，依據(jù)教育部頒布的《大學(xué)英語課程教學(xué)要求》重新研發(fā)的供大學(xué)基礎(chǔ)階段英語教學(xué)使用的立體化系列教材。本系列教材共分為6級，供大學(xué)英語課程的一般要求和較高要求層次的教學(xué)使用。每級由《綜合教程》、《閱讀教程》、《綜合技能訓(xùn)練》、《教學(xué)參考書》以及配套的電子教案、網(wǎng)絡(luò)課程等組成。本系列教材以面向信息時(shí)代的大學(xué)英語教學(xué)內(nèi)容、課程體系和教學(xué)方法的改革為出發(fā)點(diǎn)，充分考慮現(xiàn)代教育技術(shù)在大學(xué)英語教學(xué)中的應(yīng)用，力圖建立一套能適應(yīng)以學(xué)生主動(dòng)、交互和自主學(xué)習(xí)為主的，集先進(jìn)的語言學(xué)習(xí)理論、教學(xué)理論和教學(xué)手段與媒介于一體的，具有時(shí)代特色的本士化與國際化相結(jié)合的新型大學(xué)英語立體化教材。在教材的引進(jìn)、改編與自主研發(fā)等方面，我們進(jìn)行了積極有益的探索，主要體現(xiàn)在以下幾個(gè)方面：※系統(tǒng)化的語言教學(xué)思想本套教程采用了多技能交際大綱的編寫原則，融語言知識與聽、說、讀、寫四項(xiàng)技能于一體，同時(shí)擴(kuò)展了語音和詞匯部分內(nèi)容，并輔以先進(jìn)的多媒體與網(wǎng)絡(luò)教學(xué)手段；以全面提高學(xué)習(xí)者的英語交際能力為目標(biāo)，以交際主題為線，意義構(gòu)建為本，以活動(dòng)為導(dǎo)向，任務(wù)為驅(qū)動(dòng)，通過多樣化的交際活動(dòng)與探究式學(xué)習(xí)來進(jìn)行知識建構(gòu)，并以形成性評價(jià)作為教學(xué)重要的評價(jià)方法，來培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的綜合分析能力和跨文化交際的能力?！K化的內(nèi)容架構(gòu)《綜合教程》每一冊書共有10個(gè)單元，每單元2課。這10個(gè)單元的主題均貼近學(xué)生的生活現(xiàn)實(shí)，其情景的設(shè)置與學(xué)牛在學(xué)校、社會(huì)以及未來的生活密切相關(guān)。每個(gè)課程單元又分為單元導(dǎo)入、聽、說、讀、寫等幾大模塊，每個(gè)模塊的內(nèi)容均與主題相關(guān)，并重點(diǎn)操練2～3種語言功能。※知識性、趣味性與文化性并重在語料的選擇方面，注重語言素材與中西方文化的結(jié)合，融知識性、趣味性與文化性于一體，題材廣泛、體裁多樣、語料真實(shí)、語言地道、版式活潑、圖文并茂。在內(nèi)容的設(shè)計(jì)上，力求語言知識學(xué)習(xí)、文化意識與批判性思維能力的培養(yǎng)并重?！惑w化的教學(xué)解決方案由《綜合教程》、《閱讀教程》、《綜合技能訓(xùn)練》、《教學(xué)參考書》、電1F教案、網(wǎng)絡(luò)課程和基于教學(xué)內(nèi)容的語料庫等構(gòu)成了完備的一體化的教學(xué)解決方案?！缎峦ㄓ么髮W(xué)英語綜合技能訓(xùn)練3》是普通高等教育“十一五”國家級規(guī)劃教材的系列用書之。全書共10個(gè)單元，每個(gè)單元的主題與《新通用大學(xué)英語綜合教程3》一致。

Alcohol and tobacco areconsidered dangerous but are not called drugs. The term drugs also covers a number of substances that mustbe used under medical supervision to treat illnesses. Drug abuse has many negative effects on health, ranging from minor issues like digestion problems topotentially fatal diseases, like AIDS. Of course, the effects depend on the drug and on the amount, methodand frequency of use. Some drugs are very addictive, like heroin, while others are less so. But the outcomeis that regular drug abuse —— even for a short period of time —— can cause physiological dependence, whichmeans that when the person stops taking drugs, he/she experiences physical withdrawal symptoms and acraving for the drug. Drug abuse also causes brain damage. Again, depending on the drug, the strength and character of thisdamage varies. But one thing is clear, drug abuse affects the way the brain functions and alters its responsesto the world. By interfering in the natural ways the brain functions, abusers expose themselves to risks theymay not even have imagined.
