前言

  音樂(lè)首先是一種感受,只有在感受中才能體驗(yàn)音樂(lè),培育音樂(lè)感。英語(yǔ)也是一種感受,因此我們也可在感受英語(yǔ)的體驗(yàn)中學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ),掌握英語(yǔ)。不步入音樂(lè)殿堂,我們很難體味音樂(lè)的美妙;不涉足英語(yǔ)世界,我們也很難體驗(yàn)英語(yǔ)世界的奧妙。我們的《大學(xué)體驗(yàn)英語(yǔ)》選擇了一些文體輕松隨意、內(nèi)容親切現(xiàn)實(shí)的英語(yǔ)素材,設(shè)計(jì)了一些有話可說(shuō)、有話愿說(shuō)的練習(xí),使英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)成為一種學(xué)生愿意參加的歡悅經(jīng)歷和體驗(yàn)。不少使用過(guò)和正在使用《大學(xué)體驗(yàn)英語(yǔ)》的學(xué)生,都感到“體驗(yàn)”二字乍聽起來(lái)新奇,可學(xué)后又倍感名副其實(shí)。對(duì)那些一學(xué)英語(yǔ)就感到畏難的同學(xué)來(lái)說(shuō),他們的心理負(fù)擔(dān)在愉快的英語(yǔ)體驗(yàn)中開始緩解;對(duì)那些喜歡學(xué)習(xí)英語(yǔ)的同學(xué)來(lái)說(shuō),他們的英語(yǔ)在新的體驗(yàn)式學(xué)習(xí)當(dāng)中得到升華。  同學(xué)們和老師們還把自己學(xué)習(xí)和教課的體驗(yàn)歸納成希望我們修訂再版《大學(xué)體驗(yàn)英語(yǔ)》的意見,用各種方式告訴了我們。意見提得中肯,我們聽得認(rèn)真,再版修訂時(shí)我們更加發(fā)揮和完善了“體驗(yàn)”的特點(diǎn)。在保持廣大師生認(rèn)可的第一版的體系、特質(zhì)和風(fēng)貌的基礎(chǔ)上,更新了部分教材內(nèi)容,將《大學(xué)體驗(yàn)英語(yǔ)》的修訂重點(diǎn)放在語(yǔ)言交際訓(xùn)練的編排上,更便于學(xué)生去“體驗(yàn)”《大學(xué)體驗(yàn)英語(yǔ)》,“體驗(yàn)”英語(yǔ)學(xué)習(xí)樂(lè)趣,“體驗(yàn)”英語(yǔ)能力的不斷提高。第二版更好地體現(xiàn)了編寫《大學(xué)體驗(yàn)英語(yǔ)》時(shí)確立的“加強(qiáng)聽說(shuō)、加強(qiáng)表達(dá)、加強(qiáng)實(shí)用”的三項(xiàng)原則。與此同時(shí),我們還聘請(qǐng)優(yōu)秀的一線教師為每?jī)?cè)教材編寫了至少一課的典型示范教案,幫助教師更好地引導(dǎo)學(xué)生去“體驗(yàn)”英語(yǔ)?! 〈舜涡抻喼饕婕叭缦路矫妫骸 ?.Passages  根據(jù)廣大師生的反饋意見,我們刪換了少量課文,使全書內(nèi)容更加符合當(dāng)代大學(xué)生的需求和愛好?! ?.Lead-in  適當(dāng)減少了聽寫填空的數(shù)量,以降低學(xué)生理解導(dǎo)入部分的難度,便于學(xué)生迅速進(jìn)入單元內(nèi)容的學(xué)習(xí)和訓(xùn)練?! ?.Communicative Tasks  1)提供了更加簡(jiǎn)明清晰的語(yǔ)境說(shuō)明,使學(xué)生能立即進(jìn)入交際角色;  2)改編了交際手段提示(_rips),使學(xué)生能輕松地找到進(jìn)行某一交際話題所需要的語(yǔ)言表達(dá)手段。力求把語(yǔ)言交際訓(xùn)練變?yōu)閷W(xué)習(xí)選擇使用不同語(yǔ)言表達(dá)手段去完成交際任務(wù)的實(shí)際體驗(yàn)過(guò)程?! ?.Read and Explore  加強(qiáng)了對(duì)文章理解和運(yùn)用的綜合訓(xùn)練,把閱讀理解練習(xí)中的單句填空調(diào)整為用填空的形式對(duì)所讀文章內(nèi)容進(jìn)行歸納小結(jié),引導(dǎo)學(xué)生提高全面理解整篇文章的能力?! ?.Language Focus  在加強(qiáng)綜合理解能力訓(xùn)練的同時(shí),突出了重點(diǎn)詞語(yǔ)的用法訓(xùn)練,進(jìn)一步加強(qiáng)和提高學(xué)生使用這些基本詞語(yǔ)進(jìn)行語(yǔ)言表達(dá)的能力。為此增編了一項(xiàng)形式多樣的重點(diǎn)詞語(yǔ)用法練習(xí),幫助學(xué)生在提高英語(yǔ)綜合運(yùn)用能力的同時(shí)加強(qiáng)詞語(yǔ)用法的訓(xùn)練。

  But something must have gone wrong in the cockpit. During the last few minutes before the scheduled  25 landing, Captain Lambrechts did not contact the Brussels airport. Just before lO:OO A.M., he lowered the wheelsof the jet and began his approach to land. But, at the last moment, he pulled the plane up. Perhaps he sawanother jet taking off and feared a collision. Or perhaps he already knew that something was wrong with hisplane. In any case, he circled the airport and prepared to try again.  Lambrechts came in a second time, flying about 500 feet over a farm near the village of Berg, northeast of  30 Brussels. Then he suddenly increased his speed and pulled the plane into a steep climb. By this time, officials inthe Brussels control tower could tell that something was very wrong. "We saw the crash coming," said oneofficial. "They couldnt have been faster," the official said. "But there was nothing they could do."  A man riding on a train saw that the plane was in trouble. "The plane appeared to be making a normalapproach to land when it suddenly reared up into the sky," he said. "Then it fell back like a great stone and we  35 heard the explosion."  It was lO:O5 A.M. when the Sabena jet hit the ground and exploded in a ball of flames. It just missedhitting a row of houses. All 72 people on board were killed, including 49 Americans and 11 members of the crew.There was nothing anyone could do. The crash site was a scene of total destruction. Debris was scattered over200 yards. Charred remains and body parts were strewn all over the area. Several couples on the plane were  40 found locked in a final embrace.  The crash stunned skaters and figure skating fans around the globe4. Never before had anything so tragichappened in their sport. To honor the dead, the Prague competition was canceled. The crash was particularlydevastating for some families. In addition to the Owen family, with its loss of three women, nine other skatingfamilies suffered more than one death. The hopes and dreams of these athletes had ended in a flash. All that  45 remained as rescuers combed through the wreckage were three pairs of melted skates dangling from one of thewings.
