前言

  《通用大學(xué)英語》最早出版于1998年8月,是國內(nèi)開發(fā)較早的一套面向?qū)W習(xí)者需求的系列電子教材。((新通用大學(xué)英語》是在國家“九五”重點(diǎn)科技攻關(guān)項(xiàng)目——《通用大學(xué)英語》的研究、開發(fā)與應(yīng)用的基礎(chǔ)上,依據(jù)教育部2004年頒布的《大學(xué)英語課程教學(xué)要求(試行)》重新研發(fā)的一套供大學(xué)基礎(chǔ)階段英語教學(xué)使用的立體化系列教材。  本系列教材共分為6級(jí),供大學(xué)英語課程的一般要求和較高要求層次的教學(xué)使用。每級(jí)由《綜合教程》、《閱讀教程》、《綜合技能訓(xùn)練》、《教學(xué)參考書》以及配套的電子教案、網(wǎng)絡(luò)課程等組成?! ”鞠盗薪滩囊悦嫦蛐畔r(shí)代的大學(xué)英語教學(xué)內(nèi)容、課程體系和教學(xué)方法的改革為出發(fā)點(diǎn),充分考慮現(xiàn)代教育技術(shù)在大學(xué)英語教學(xué)中的應(yīng)用,力圖建立一套能適應(yīng)以學(xué)生主動(dòng)、交互和自主學(xué)習(xí)為主的,集先進(jìn)的語言學(xué)習(xí)理論、教學(xué)理論和教學(xué)手段與媒介于一體的,具有時(shí)代特色的本土化與國際化相結(jié)合的新型大學(xué)英語立體化教材。在設(shè)計(jì)及編寫上充分吸納了國內(nèi)外教材先進(jìn)的編寫理念與特色,引進(jìn)了于2006年獲得美國教育出版大獎(jiǎng)的TopNotch,為教材提供了真實(shí)、自然與鮮活的語料。在教材的引進(jìn)、改編與自主研發(fā)等方面,我們進(jìn)行了積極有益的探索,主要體現(xiàn)在以下幾個(gè)方面:  系統(tǒng)化的語言教學(xué)思想  本套教程采用了多技能交際大綱的編寫原則,融語言知識(shí)與聽、說、讀、寫四項(xiàng)技能于一體,同時(shí)擴(kuò)展了語音和詞匯部分內(nèi)容,并輔以先進(jìn)的多媒體與網(wǎng)絡(luò)教學(xué)手段。以全面提高學(xué)習(xí)者的英語交際能力為目標(biāo),以交際主題為線,意義構(gòu)建為本,以活動(dòng)為導(dǎo)向,任務(wù)為驅(qū)動(dòng),通過多樣化的交際活動(dòng)與探究式學(xué)習(xí)來進(jìn)行知識(shí)建構(gòu),并以形成性評(píng)價(jià)作為教學(xué)重要的評(píng)價(jià)方法,來培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的綜合分析能力和跨文化交際能力。  模塊化的內(nèi)容架構(gòu)  每一冊(cè)書共有10個(gè)單元,每單元2課。這10個(gè)單元的主題均貼近學(xué)生的生活現(xiàn)實(shí),其情景的設(shè)置與學(xué)生在學(xué)校、社會(huì)以及未來的生活密切相關(guān)。每個(gè)課程單元又分為單元導(dǎo)入、聽、說、讀、寫等幾大模塊,每個(gè)模塊的內(nèi)容均與主題相關(guān),并重點(diǎn)操練2~3種語言功能。  知識(shí)性、趣味性與文化性并重  在語料的選擇方面,注重語言素材與中西方文化的結(jié)合,融知識(shí)性、趣味性與文化性于一體,題材廣泛、體裁多樣、語料真實(shí)、語言地道、版式活潑、圖文并茂。在內(nèi)容的設(shè)計(jì)上,力求語言知識(shí)學(xué)習(xí)、文化意識(shí)與批判性思維能力的培養(yǎng)并重?! ∫惑w化的教學(xué)解決方案  全套教程由《綜合教程》、《閱讀教程》、《綜合技能訓(xùn)練》、《教學(xué)參考書》、電子教案、網(wǎng)絡(luò)課程和基于教學(xué)內(nèi)容的語料庫等構(gòu)成了完備的一體化的教學(xué)解決方案。

His films havebeen so popular, so consistently entertaining, that people rush to see anything tagged as A Steven SpielbergProduction, even movies he merely financed. Steven Spielberg directed many of the top-grossing films inHollywood history, including the blockbusters Jaws (1975), Close Encounters of the Third Kind (1977), Raidersof the Lost Ark (1981), E.T. The Extra-Terrestrial (1982), Jurassic Park (1993), Minority Report (2002) and manymore. Spielbergs huge box office successes have allowed him to make more serious films as weU, includingThe Color Purple (1985), Schindlers List (1993), Saving Private Ryan (1998) and Munich (2005).  2. Hollywood  Hollywood is a district in Los Angeles, California, U.S. Due to its fame and cultural identity as thehistorical center of movie studios and stars, the word "Hollywood" is synonymous with the Americanmovie and television industry. Hollywood was originally a small independent agricultural community. Itmerged with Los Angeles in 1910 in order to obtain an adequate water supply. At approximately the sametime, the film industry began to settle in the region, seeking to take advantage of natural sunlight thatallowed year-round filming and a diverse southern California landscape that provided cheap scenery. In1914, the director Cecil B. DeMille decided to locate his studio in Hollywood permanently, and othercompanies followed. By 1915 Hollywood became the center of the movie industry. In the 1950s and 1960s,Hollywood also began to attract television studios and record companies.  Today much of the movie industry has dispersed into surrounding areas, but significant ancillaryindustries (such as editing, effects, props, post-production, and lighting companies) remain in Hollywood.It continues to be the symbolic center of the American movie industry.  3. D-Day  On June 6,1944, a date known ever since as D-Day, the allied forces landed in France during the SecondWorld War.  The invasion itself gave prominence to land forces but provided major roles for air and sea components.Allied air forces carried three airborne divisions into battle, protected the force as it crossed the EnglishChannel, and attacked targets throughout the invasion area before and after the landing in support of theassault forces. More than 5 000 ships carried, escorted and landed the assault force along the Normandycoast. Once the force was landed, naval gunfire provided critical support for the soldiers as they foughttheir way across the beaches.  In the invasions early hours, more than I 000 transports dropped paratroopers to secure the flanks andbeach exits of the assault area. Amphibious craft landed some 130 000 troops on five beaches along 50 milesof Normandy coast while the air forces controlled the skies overhead. In the eastern zone, the British andCanadians landed on Gold, Juno and Sword Beaches. The Americans landed on two beaches in the west ——Utah and Omaha. As the Allies came ashore, they took the first steps on the final road to victory in Europe.
