前言

  《實(shí)用英語》是一套供高等??茖W(xué)校使用的英語教材。本教材的編寫以教育部1993年頒發(fā)的《普通高等??朴⒄Z課程教學(xué)基本要求》為依據(jù)?!痘疽蟆芬?guī)定:普通高等??朴⒄Z課程教學(xué)的目的是,培養(yǎng)學(xué)生掌握必需的、實(shí)用的英語語言知識和技能,具有閱讀和翻譯與本專業(yè)有關(guān)的英文資料的初步能力,并為進(jìn)一步提高英語的應(yīng)用能力打下一定的基礎(chǔ)?! 榱梭w現(xiàn)上述教學(xué)目的,在編寫《實(shí)用英語》過程中我們既注意吸收現(xiàn)代外語教學(xué)理論中適合我國英語教學(xué)實(shí)際的某些觀點(diǎn),又采納傳統(tǒng)外語教學(xué)理論中某些合理部分,結(jié)合我國外語教學(xué)中行之有效的理論和方法及現(xiàn)狀,力求正確處理好語言基礎(chǔ)和語言應(yīng)用的關(guān)系,突出加強(qiáng)英語實(shí)踐能力的培養(yǎng)和實(shí)際運(yùn)用?!  痘疽蟆穼?朴⒄Z課程教學(xué)分為兩個(gè)階段:第一階段應(yīng)重視語言共核教學(xué),培養(yǎng)基本的語言技能;第二階段應(yīng)結(jié)合專業(yè),強(qiáng)調(diào)基本的閱讀和翻譯技能在本專業(yè)的實(shí)際應(yīng)用。為了體現(xiàn)這一教學(xué)安排,本套教材也分成兩個(gè)階段。第一階段包括《綜合教程》和《泛讀教程》各3冊,第二階段包括《實(shí)用業(yè)務(wù)英語》1冊?!毒C合教程》和《泛讀教程》是《實(shí)用業(yè)務(wù)英語》的基礎(chǔ),并在教學(xué)內(nèi)容、技能培養(yǎng)方面逐漸向《實(shí)用業(yè)務(wù)英語》過渡;《實(shí)用業(yè)務(wù)英語》是《綜合教程》和《泛讀教程》的總結(jié)和提高,并結(jié)合學(xué)生畢業(yè)后使用英語的需要,側(cè)重于實(shí)用文體的閱讀和翻譯、實(shí)用英語口語的訓(xùn)練和實(shí)用文體模擬寫作方面的訓(xùn)練。為了便于廣大師生使用上述教材,還編配了《教師參考書》和同步練習(xí)性質(zhì)的《綜合訓(xùn)練與自測》。

內(nèi)容概要

  《實(shí)用英語》系列教材是一套專科層次的公共英語教材,是教育部規(guī)劃的高職高專英語教材。本套教材1995年正式出版發(fā)行,1999年至2000年進(jìn)行了第一次修汀。為了更加有利于學(xué)生英語應(yīng)用能力的培養(yǎng),結(jié)合這幾年《實(shí)用英語》的教學(xué)使用反饋,修訂組以教育部2000年頒發(fā)的《高職高專教育英語課程教學(xué)基本要求(試行)》為依據(jù),對《實(shí)用英語》進(jìn)行了第二次修訂?! ∨c第二版相比,《實(shí)用英語綜合教程1》(第三版)每冊由原來的10個(gè)單元改為8個(gè)單元,對技能訓(xùn)練部分的項(xiàng)目作了少量調(diào)整,并調(diào)換了部分單元的課文。修訂后的《實(shí)用英語》按照《基本要求》中的詞匯重新對《綜合教程》課文的分課詞匯表進(jìn)行了標(biāo)記和增刪。  《實(shí)用英語綜合教程1(第3版)》第二版曾獲2002年全國高等學(xué)校優(yōu)秀教材一等獎(jiǎng)。

  PRE-READING TASK  1. Is your college life the same as you expected?  2. What came into your mind when you became a college student?  3. Are people around you at college nice and friendly to you?  Now compare your answers with those of your neighbours.  College —— A New Experience  1 College is a new and different experience for me. Im away from home, so I have many things to adjust to. Being on my own, talking with friendly people, and having Fridays off —— these are just some things I like about college.  2 Living at college, first of all, gives me a sense of responsibility, of being on my own. My parents arent around to say, "No, youre not going out tonight" or "Did you finish your homework?" Everything I do has to be my decision, and that gives me the responsibility of handling my own life. During the second week I was at college, I had to go out and look for a bank where I could open an account. Before that I looked in the phone book since I had no clue about any banks around here or where they were located. Someone told me about a good bank: Continental Federal Savings. I went to the bank and made decisions for myself —— whether to have a checking or savings account and whether or not to get a MASTER card. That was one example of having responsibility now that Im on my own and of making my own decisions.  3 Friendly people: thats another aspect I like about college. On my first day (and even now) people were nice to me. I came to Marymount University here in Virginia from New York and —— even though Id been here before —— I was a bit confused about where I was going.
