前言

  進(jìn)入21世紀(jì)以來(lái),中國(guó)已經(jīng)成為世界上最可靠的投資熱土和最安全的旅游勝地。在最近的20年內(nèi),中國(guó)將從一個(gè)旅游大國(guó)發(fā)展成為旅游強(qiáng)國(guó),這無(wú)疑是不爭(zhēng)的事實(shí)。我們迅速發(fā)展的旅游業(yè)呈現(xiàn)出一些令人可喜的態(tài)勢(shì)。一種適應(yīng)于個(gè)性化、多樣化需求的“新時(shí)代旅游”正在取代原有的適應(yīng)于大眾化、單一化常規(guī)需求的“大眾式旅游”。此外,隨著知識(shí)經(jīng)濟(jì)時(shí)代的到來(lái),傳統(tǒng)賓館、酒店企業(yè)的組織和功能、管理理念、營(yíng)銷(xiāo)哲學(xué)、經(jīng)營(yíng)手段、服務(wù)措施等已經(jīng)并正在受到全面挑戰(zhàn),發(fā)生重大變化。這些變化和挑戰(zhàn),集中反映在旅游業(yè)從業(yè)人員的職業(yè)道德、服務(wù)質(zhì)量、管理水平和外語(yǔ)能力等基本素質(zhì)上。我們不得不指出,我國(guó)旅游業(yè)特別是賓館、酒店業(yè)員工的英語(yǔ)水平仍然普遍較低,與國(guó)際水平相比還有一定的差距,亟需提高。同時(shí),旅游高等專(zhuān)科教育和高等職業(yè)技術(shù)教育在我國(guó)也方興未艾,前景廣闊。在旅游高專(zhuān)高職教育中,各類(lèi)專(zhuān)業(yè)英語(yǔ)的教學(xué)占有舉足輕重的地位。數(shù)年來(lái),筆者在此領(lǐng)域筆耕不輟,填補(bǔ)空白,出版了數(shù)種賓館、酒店業(yè)專(zhuān)業(yè)英語(yǔ)教材。但是,面對(duì)新時(shí)代旅游業(yè)的新趨勢(shì),面對(duì)賓館、酒店業(yè)提高品位、擴(kuò)大經(jīng)營(yíng)范圍的客觀(guān)需求,我們深感有必要編寫(xiě)新的賓館英語(yǔ)教材,爭(zhēng)取有所突破、有所發(fā)展、有所建樹(shù),為培養(yǎng)賓館、酒店業(yè)所急需的新一代既精通業(yè)務(wù)又諳熟外語(yǔ)的高級(jí)服務(wù)人才與中、高級(jí)管理人才,為提高賓館、酒店業(yè)各類(lèi)崗位群在職員工的外語(yǔ)水平和涉外交際能力略盡綿薄之力。這就是我們編著《賓館英語(yǔ)》的初衷。  本教材的讀者對(duì)象包括普通高校專(zhuān)科、高職、自考高等專(zhuān)科、成人教育(含夜大、職大、業(yè)大、電大等)高等專(zhuān)科、專(zhuān)業(yè)證書(shū)高等專(zhuān)科的旅游管理專(zhuān)業(yè)及賓館(酒店)管理專(zhuān)業(yè)的學(xué)生及賓館、酒店從業(yè)人員。

內(nèi)容概要

  《賓館英語(yǔ)》共16單元,每單元分4大模塊;聽(tīng)力、會(huì)話(huà)、基礎(chǔ)知識(shí)和綜合練習(xí)。內(nèi)容選材突出賓館、酒店業(yè)一線(xiàn)服務(wù)和現(xiàn)場(chǎng)管理中各個(gè)環(huán)節(jié),堅(jiān)持聽(tīng)說(shuō)領(lǐng)先的原則和任務(wù)為基(Task Based)的原則,以培養(yǎng)學(xué)生口頭交際能力為主旨,目的是為賓館、酒店業(yè)培養(yǎng)一批既精通業(yè)務(wù)、又能熟練運(yùn)用英語(yǔ)進(jìn)行交際的中、高級(jí)管理人材。

  A meeting is generally defined as the gathering of people in one place, to confer or carry out a particular activity. A variety of factors serve to increase the demand for meetings. One of them is the need for communication at personalized level and the opportunity for individual to exchange ideas and views. In contrast, printed and electronic information, even with developments in video conferencing, cannot vie with this personal contact. The importance of a meeting does not lie merely in what the keynoters said. The total atmosphere of the event and the subsequent stimulation also add to the significance of a meeting.  The huge and rising growth in meeting business does not help to motivate interest alone. Other goals can be achieved through group participation. They are education, strategic planning, team building, problem solving, training, reorganization, sales promotion and new product introduction, for which the attendees share the information.  Meetings, whether they are conferences or conventions, increasingly overlap with incentive travel. This is because companies both at home and abroad are attaching much importance to rewarding good performance of employees. Therefore, conferences, with their designated function of motivation, constitute parts of the incentive program.
