前言

　　《英語（基本版）》是根據(jù)2000年8月頒布的《中等職業(yè)學(xué)校英語教學(xué)大綱（試行）》（以下簡稱“大綱”）組織編寫的系列教材。本系列教材包括預(yù)備級、第1～3冊、第4冊（提高本），預(yù)備級配有教師手冊、錄音帶和電子教案，其他各冊均配有練習(xí)冊、教師手冊、錄音帶、多媒體學(xué)習(xí)課件和電子教案。　　本教材著力體現(xiàn)素質(zhì)教育和能力本位的精神，注重交際應(yīng)用，突出職教特色，其主要特點(diǎn)如下?！　?.與初中英語教學(xué)相銜接、緊扣大綱　　本系列教材的普通起點(diǎn)為初中英語教學(xué)大綱要求學(xué)生掌握的600英語詞，預(yù)備級起點(diǎn)為300詞，更加貼近目前中職英語教學(xué)的實(shí)際情況。本系列教材覆蓋了“大綱”的全部語法項(xiàng)目、所有的交際功能項(xiàng)目和約90％的詞匯項(xiàng)目。學(xué)完本系列教材第1～3冊將能達(dá)到“大綱”規(guī)定的基本要求，學(xué)完第1～4冊將達(dá)到較高要求。　　2.以話題為綱和以綜合英語為基礎(chǔ)　　本系列教材每個(gè)教學(xué)單元的各種教學(xué)活動都圍繞一個(gè)與學(xué)生日常生活密切相關(guān)的話題進(jìn)行，由“綜合英語”向“聽”、“說”、“讀”、“寫”等交際技能和詞匯、語法等語言項(xiàng)目輻射。同時(shí)還體現(xiàn)了語言項(xiàng)目是交際的手段、交際技能是教學(xué)目的的教學(xué)思想，把語言知識作為交際的手段來教，把交際技能作為教學(xué)的目標(biāo)來培養(yǎng)，既重視語言知識的傳授，更重視交際技能的培養(yǎng)?！　　奥牎?、“說”模塊結(jié)合交際功能并圍繞單元話題展開，充分體現(xiàn)了“大綱”突出實(shí)用性的要求?！熬C合英語”模塊以相關(guān)話題為綱編寫，詞匯、語法的教學(xué)均圍繞相關(guān)話題進(jìn)行?！芭d趣閱讀”除進(jìn)一步培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的閱讀能力外，還適當(dāng)補(bǔ)充了與“綜合英語”模塊話題相關(guān)的詞匯?！　?.模塊式結(jié)構(gòu)和應(yīng)用性訓(xùn)練便于實(shí)施職業(yè)教育　　本系列教材預(yù)備級以溫故而知新的方式由日常生活對話、音標(biāo)和初中語法項(xiàng)目逐步過渡到情景化的“聽”、“說”、“讀”、“寫”技能訓(xùn)練；第1～4冊每個(gè)教學(xué)單元均包括“熱身活動”、“聽”、“說”、“綜合英語”、“興趣閱讀”、“寫作”6個(gè)模塊，分別提供了大量的應(yīng)用性訓(xùn)練，可由教師根據(jù)所在學(xué)校的英語教學(xué)環(huán)境自由搭配，靈活使用。本系列教材還體現(xiàn)了以基礎(chǔ)英語為主、以專業(yè)英語為輔的特點(diǎn)，既能為文、理、工、農(nóng)、醫(yī)、經(jīng)貿(mào)等各類中職學(xué)?；A(chǔ)英語階段的教學(xué)服務(wù)，又能為學(xué)生進(jìn)入專門用途英語教學(xué)階段鋪平道路?！　?.選材多樣，知識性、趣味性并重　　本系列教材話題涉及城市問題、教育、旅游、科普、健康、環(huán)保、社區(qū)、求職、名人等各方面。課文體裁多樣，有時(shí)文、文學(xué)作品選段、人物傳記、對話、說明文、論說文等，題材新穎，時(shí)代感強(qiáng)。“聽”、“說”模塊選材實(shí)用、上口?！熬C合英語”和“興趣閱讀”模塊的選材主題領(lǐng)域相關(guān)聯(lián)，又各有側(cè)重，前者側(cè)重知識性，后者側(cè)重趣味性，相得益彰?！　?.難度適中，易學(xué)好用　　本教材各課均可通過“熱身活動”溫習(xí)與單元話題相關(guān)的詞匯并啟發(fā)學(xué)生思考有關(guān)問題?！奥牎?、“說”模塊基本不含生詞和新的語法項(xiàng)目，“綜合英語”模塊的生詞量控制在8％左右，“興趣閱讀”模塊不含新的語法項(xiàng)目，生詞量控制在5％以下?！皩懽鳌蹦K點(diǎn)面結(jié)合，既有單項(xiàng)練習(xí)，又有作文訓(xùn)練（備有寫作提示）。各部分的內(nèi)容難度適中，易學(xué)好用。

　　The White Towerwas started in 1076 and completed in 1097. It is the oldest of the 20 towers which used to stand here. We can still see many of them today. The Tower of London was first built for the purpose of protecting and controlling the city. Today, it is one of the most popular tourist sights and attracts over three million visitors a year.　　It was sometimes used as a house for the kings of England until the time of James I （who was the king from 1603 to 1625） but is best known as a prison and execution place. One of the most well-known executions was that of Anne Boleyn in 1536. She was the second wife of Henry VIII. He wanted to kill her because she could not give him a son. She asked to be killed with a sword, rather than the usual axe. The axe can still be seen in the Tower. The sword and the official who carried out the execution were brought over from France and with one blow the official cut off her head.　　The Tower was also the place of one of Londons most fa- mous mysteries, known as the mystery of the Princes in the Tower. King Edward Ivdied in 1483. He had two sons, Edward and Rich- ard, and the elder of these, Edward, became king on his fathers death. As he was only 12 years old, his uncle became his Protec- tor until the time when he was old enough to rule the country. Young Edward lived in the Tower, and the Duke persuaded Edwards brother to come and live there as well so that they could play together. But then the Duke made himself the new king,
