前言
《實用英語》是一套供高等專科學(xué)校使用的英語教材。本教材的編寫以教育部1993年頒發(fā)的《普通高等??朴⒄Z課程教學(xué)基本要求》為依據(jù)?!痘疽蟆芬?guī)定:普通高等專科英語課程教學(xué)的目的是,培養(yǎng)學(xué)生掌握必需的、實用的英語語言知識和技能,具有閱讀和翻譯與本專業(yè)有關(guān)的英文資料的初步能力,并為進一步提高英語的應(yīng)用能力打下一定的基礎(chǔ)?! 榱梭w現(xiàn)上述教學(xué)目的,在編寫《實用英語》過程中我們既注意吸收現(xiàn)代外語教學(xué)理論中適合我國英語教學(xué)實際的某些觀點,又采納傳統(tǒng)外語教學(xué)理論中某些合理部分,結(jié)合我國外語教學(xué)中行之有效的理論和方法及現(xiàn)狀,力求正確處理好語言基礎(chǔ)和語言應(yīng)用的關(guān)系,突出加強英語實踐能力的培養(yǎng)和實際運用。 《基本要求》將??朴⒄Z課程教學(xué)分為兩個階段:第一階段應(yīng)重視語言共核教學(xué),培養(yǎng)基本的語言技能;第二階段應(yīng)結(jié)合專業(yè),強調(diào)基本的閱讀和翻譯技能在本專業(yè)的實際應(yīng)用。為了體現(xiàn)這一教學(xué)安排,本套教材也分成兩個階段。第一階段包括《綜合教程》和《泛讀教程》各3冊,第二階段包括《實用業(yè)務(wù)英語》1冊?!毒C合教程》和《泛讀教程》是《實用業(yè)務(wù)英語》的基礎(chǔ),并在教學(xué)內(nèi)容、技能培養(yǎng)方面逐漸向《實用業(yè)務(wù)英語》過渡;《實用業(yè)務(wù)英語》是《綜合教程》和《泛讀教程》的總結(jié)和提高,并結(jié)合學(xué)生畢業(yè)后使用英語的需要,側(cè)重于實用文體的閱讀和翻譯、實用英語口語的訓(xùn)練和實用文體模擬寫作方面的訓(xùn)練。為了便于廣大師生使用上述教材,還編配了《教師參考書》和同步練習(xí)性質(zhì)的《綜合訓(xùn)練與自測》。
內(nèi)容概要
《實用英語綜合教程1(第2版)》是一套專科層次的公共英語教材,1995年正式出版發(fā)行。為了更加有利于學(xué)生英語應(yīng)用能力的培養(yǎng),結(jié)合這幾年使用《實用英語》教學(xué)情況及專科這一教育層次的英語教學(xué)要求,編寫組對《實用英語》進行了修訂。修訂后的《實用英語》第二版不僅適用于高專的學(xué)生,也適用于高職的學(xué)生?! ∨c第一版相比,《實用英語綜合教程1(第2版)》側(cè)重改進了有關(guān)語言技能訓(xùn)練,調(diào)整了讀、譯、寫、聽、說技能訓(xùn)練順序與結(jié)構(gòu);降低了段落聽力理解訓(xùn)練的難度,刪除了部分練習(xí);適當(dāng)調(diào)整了交際會話話題,增加了交際會話的訓(xùn)練量;刪換了部分應(yīng)用文,使之更加符合改革開放環(huán)境下的涉外交際需要。 書后附有配套多媒體光盤一張。光盤內(nèi)容豐富,不僅提供了課文和練習(xí)的學(xué)習(xí)輔導(dǎo),還開發(fā)了相應(yīng)的語言技能訓(xùn)練、詞匯學(xué)習(xí)、語法學(xué)習(xí)、單項測試、輕松一刻等內(nèi)容,既方便教師備課參考,又為學(xué)生提供了生動活潑的自學(xué)園地。

Working Hard or Hardly Working? 1 According to a recent survey, employees in many companies today work longer hours than employees did in 1979. They also take shorter vacations. It seems that Americans are working harder today than ever before. Or are they?A management consultant, Bill Meyer, decided to find out. For three days, he observed an investment banker hard at work. Meyer wrote down everything the banker did during his long workday —— the banker worked 80 hours a week.At the end of the three-day period, Meyer reviewed the bankers activities with him. What did they find out? They discovered that the man spent 80 percent of his time doing busy work. For example, he attended unnecessary meetings,made redundant telephone calls, and spent time packing and unpacking his two big briefcases. 2 Apparently, many people believe that the more time a person spends atwork, the more she or he accomplishes. However, the connection between time and productivity is not always positive. In fact, many studies indicate that after a certain point, anyones productivity and creativity begin to decrease.Furthermre, it is not always easy for individuals to realize that their perform-ance is falling off.
