前言

  《新目標(biāo)英語》系列教材是在科學(xué)出版社2005年出版的大學(xué)英語讀寫教程》系列教材(《大學(xué)英語讀寫教程》被教育部評為普通高等教育“十一五”國家級(jí)規(guī)劃教材)的基礎(chǔ)上,根據(jù)教育部高教司頒布的《高職高專英語課程教學(xué)基本要求(試行)》為指導(dǎo)改編而成的一套高職高專英語教材。本套教材共分3冊,每冊教材將聽說和讀寫的內(nèi)容融為一體,每本學(xué)生用書還配有學(xué)生練習(xí)冊和教師參考書。  《新目標(biāo)英語》系列教材的編寫按照《高職高專英語課程教學(xué)基本要求》,以高職高專逐步改制為基點(diǎn),結(jié)合教改后的英語教學(xué)總課時(shí)而編寫。教材遵循“應(yīng)用為目的、實(shí)用為主、夠用為度”的英語教學(xué)理念,即重視培養(yǎng)學(xué)生的英語語言基礎(chǔ)知識(shí)和應(yīng)用能力,更注重培養(yǎng)學(xué)生使用英語進(jìn)行涉外交際的能力。本套教材側(cè)重“教、學(xué)、考”相互照應(yīng),貼近《高等學(xué)校英語應(yīng)用能力考試大綱》的要求,學(xué)生在完成本教材的學(xué)習(xí)過程中能熟練掌握考試題型,順利達(dá)到英語應(yīng)用能力考試的A、B級(jí)水平。  一、教材的特點(diǎn)  1.實(shí)用性  本套教材依據(jù)《高職高專英語課程教學(xué)基本要求》,既測試語言知識(shí)也著重測試語言技能,既測試一般性語言內(nèi)容也測試與涉外業(yè)務(wù)有關(guān)的內(nèi)容,并側(cè)重后者,實(shí)用性內(nèi)容約占60%。本套教材的內(nèi)容包括了日常生活和工作環(huán)境中常見的涉外交際活動(dòng),與高等學(xué)校英語應(yīng)用能力考試緊密銜接。教材中概括了英語常用單詞、短語、語法規(guī)則等,注重語言聽說的訓(xùn)練,在練習(xí)設(shè)計(jì)時(shí)注意了精講多練,講練結(jié)合。同時(shí),教材選材豐富、題型多樣,并很好的與英語應(yīng)用能力考試相結(jié)合。學(xué)生通過對教材的學(xué)習(xí)不僅能充分地鍛煉聽、說、讀、寫、譯,提高英語技能,也能熟悉高等學(xué)校英語應(yīng)用能力考試題型和做題技巧。

  TIME MANAGEMENT. "Man is firsta social animal, then a rational one," says aprofessor at Purdue University. So you mayfind it hard to say "No" each time yourroommate wants to see a movie when youneed to read Paradise Lost.  College is known for its distractions.In those first months, youll meet peoplewhose values and priorities are differentfrom yours. The newness of the situation and the range of decisions youll face could leaveyou confused.  Think about what you want from college and from friends. Study alter breakfast,between classes, whatever works best for you. Dont cut off all social contacts. Theyre asvital to surviving in college as reading. Study Hegel first, then catch a late movie.  STUDY METHODS. Would you take a trip by stopping for directions at every stationinstead of reading a map? Of course not, but thats how most people study, says a professor,who teaches a course on preparing for college. Studying in college demands more reading andthinking, less memorization than in high school. Survey the material first to get a sense of it~formulate some questions. Jot down key ideas, tell yourself the essence of what youve readand review it. Does it make sense? Were your questions answered?  Get copies of old exams from the library so you can see what types of questions eacllprofessor asks. Preparing for an exam on the Civil War will be easier if you know whether tcstudy broad themes or specific battles.  KEEPING CURRENT. Professors may notnotice whether you attend a large lecture, butyou could notice later on. Some professors uselectures to discuss material not found in thereading on which they will base an exam. Othersstress key points, lfyou must miss a lecture, getthe notes promptly, lftoo much time elapses, thenotes will make less sense than second-handnotes normally do. Never fall more than a weekbehind in reading. If you dont do the reading,you wont understand the lecture.
