作者簡介

　　RobWeaverwasborninTopeka，Kansas，andgrewupinArlington，Virginia．HereceivedhisbachelorSdegreeinchemistryfromTheCollegeofWoosterinWooster．0hio，in1964．HeearnedhisPh．D．inboichemistryatDukeUniversityin1969，thenspenttwoyearsdoingpostdoctoralresearchattheUniversityofCalifornia，SanFrancisco，wherehestudiedthestructureofeukayoticRNApolymeraseswithWilliamI．Rutter．HeioinedthefacultyoftheUniversityofKansasasanassistantprofessorofbiochemistryin1971，waspromotedtoassociateprofessor．a(chǎn)ndthentofullprofessorin1981．In1984．hebecamechairoftheDepartmentofBiochemistry．a(chǎn)ndservedinthatcapacityuntilhewasnamedAssociateDeanoftheCollegeofLiberalArtsandSciencesin1995．Prof．WeaveriSthedivisionaldeanforthescienceandmathematicdepartmentswithinthecollege，whichincludessupervising14differentdepartmentsandprograms．Asaprofessorofmolecularbiosciences．heteachescoursesinintroductorymolecularbiologyandthemolecularbiologyofcancer．Hedirectsaresearchlaboratoryinwhichundergraduatesandgraduatestudentsparticipateinresearchonthemolecularbiologyofabaculovirusthatinfectscaterpillars．Prof．WeaveriStheauthorofmanyscientificpapersresultingfromresearchfundedbytheNationalInstitutesofHealth，theNationalScienceFoundation．a(chǎn)ndtheAmericanCancerSociety．HehasalsocoauthoredtwogeneticstextbooksandhaswrittentwoarticlesonmolecularbiologyintheNationalGeographicMagazine．HehasspenttwoyearsperformingresearchinEuropeanLaboratoriesasanAmericanCancerSocietyResearchScholar，oneyearinZurich，Switzerland，andoneyearinOxford，England．
